A note about the Beretta PX4 Storm Compact.
What Academy is calling the PX4 Storm Compact, is actually the PX4 Storm Sub-Compact. The PX4 Storm comes in three models, full size, sub-compact, and compact. The full size and compact models have the rotating barrel, the sub-compact does not have the rotating barrel. Academy has been listing the Sub-Compact as the Compact model (the picture in the ad is the PX4 Sub-Compact).

My local newspaper ad has all the advertised guns at Everyday low prices. I hope that's not a sign for 2012. The Academy prices are pretty good usually but not door busters.

I have shot the PX4 Sub-Compact a couple of times and I really liked it. For such a small handgun, I was amazed how accurately I could fire it. I still don't know if anyone has a good concealment holster designed for the sub-compact.cougartex wrote:A note about the Beretta PX4 Storm Compact.

Academy advertises items FOR sale in it's flyers/emails.
An "Everyday" price is exactly that. Note that a "Hot Deal" notation in an AD reflects a reduction from an "Everyday" price.
This practice is a straight-forward way of attracting shoppers and highlight that a reasonable stock is on hand for purchasers.

I got no problem with them doing that. Like I said, Academy prices are usually pretty good compared to other stores near me. Also they are straight about it being the Everyday price.LSL wrote:Academy advertises items FOR sale in it's flyers/emails.

I picked up my SC at Academy, a couple of months ago at the $500 price. I am happy with the purchase and feel like it was a pretty good deal. It is a very nice gun for the price. Shoots well, looks good and is reliable.Lambda Force wrote:I got no problem with them doing that. Like I said, Academy prices are usually pretty good compared to other stores near me. cougartex, WildBill, or anyone:
I'm rather intrigued by the "rotating barrel" concept from a technical viewpoint, as well as by the thought
that this design appears to lessen recoil. Beretta seems to be unique in using this design.
Does a rotating barrel wear out any faster due to more moving parts or something?
Is the cleaning process/takedown for a rotating barrel Beretta much different than any other semi-auto?
Does anyone know of a video that shows the rotating barrel operation?
TIA / SIA

Can't speak to the long-term wear question with a rotating barrel, but takedown and cleaning of my buddy's full size PX4 is easy and similar to many other auto loaders (remove slide and barrel is held in place by recoil spring tension). It's also a pleasure at the range.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:Is the cleaning process/takedown for a rotating barrel Beretta much different than any other semi-auto?

I have the PX4 SC and have a couple of really nice holsters. An OWB and a IWB. If you want to know where I got them send me a PM. Do not know if it is ok to "advertise" the maker here.

I have a PX4 SC .40 and I love it. It is a joy to shoot even in .40 It has less recoil than my G22.

I doubt it. In marine Diesel engines, many use rotating valves and some have rotating pistons. This reduces wear on the parts.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:Does a rotating barrel wear out any faster due to more moving parts or something?
