Joining the 1911 club

#1

Post by Jules »

I have cash in hand for the gun show this weekend to look for a Kimber ss pro raptor. I wouldn't mind having a used one, but I love that new gun smell and not real sure what to look for in a used 1911. I'm still uncertain if I want the 4" or 5" model.

I'm 90% sure the 4" is for me, but the 5" look good and feel about the same in my hands. It took me a long time to get my decision narrowed down to the Kimber raptor II line. Hopefully nothing else will catch my eye and start this whole decision process over again.

My son has a Pro Raptor for his EDC. If this gun is for daily carry, go with the 4" gun. It's easier to live with as a carry weapon. If this gun is going to be a range queen, get the 5" gun. I own a 3" Kimber and a 5" Springfield, and I would love a 4" 1911.

I'll be joining the club myself in the near future.

Right now my top choices are

Springfield Loaded

Kimber Pro Carry II

Sigs get a lot of good reviews as well so i plan on looking at them a little closer.

My deal right now is finish.

I want parkerized with cocobolo grips and Springfield comes the closest to the look i want. Mechanically i can have it smithed into anything i want after that.
