I've adopted NakedBike because I ride a sport bike that is normally fully covered in body work but does not have any on. :) I like it better that way.

I am fascinated by name origins and linguistics in general. The polite way to ask is something like, "I haven't heard your name before. Where does it come from?"
I lot of Americans have anglicized names that had totally different origins. For example, Polish people named Sniegowski (which has something to do with snow) got renamed to Snow or White.

James Gatz, Jay Gatsby's real name from the novel 'The Great Gatsby.' My name starts with a J & Gat is also a slang for firearm.

The model of my first Colt 1911, following that approach my middle name would be GoldCup and a last name of "BROKE"

Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?
My user name comes from a contraction of my first name (one of the less offensive nicknames my mother called me) and a letter from my last name.
Have a nice day.

Didn't upset me, just threw me. In all the interactions I have had with people over the years, I have never had anyone see my last name and think that. I was at a dealership to buy a truck and this salesman wasn't listening to anything I said so he was probably just on autopilot and asking questions to engage me.G26ster wrote:This upset you?Wfahey wrote: Thanks for the welcome. Combination of initials and a couple extra letters added to make it firearms related. Same name on a few different firearm forums. Been lurking this one for a while, figured it was time to join.
