Re: Introduce yourself
Howdy folks!
Been lurking these forums for a few weeks now and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 36 year old technology guy currently living in Round Rock. Married to a woman I don't deserve, with a 16 year old boy and an adult daughter. Both of my kids know how to shoot and handle a weapon.
My wife and I will be taking our CHL course in August. We just selected our carry weapons a few weeks ago, so I'll be using a Sig P220 Elite Dark as my primary and my wife will be using the Sig P226 Extreme (she loves those grips) in 9mm. Obviously a little on the big side, but after shooting close to 15 handguns, we knew we had found a match.
I'll probably end up with a Crossbreed SuperTuck at some point. Right now we're spending time at the range making sure we know how to hit what we aim for.
Thanks for the excellent CHL resource -- and look forward to joining the discussion.

Re: Introduce yourself
Gents and Ladies,
I am a new member, new CHL holder and long time firearms enthusiast. I currently work in Afghanistan; a little place I have made the mistake of calling home for the past 5 years. Trust me my wife is none to happy to hear me say "when I get back home (Afghanistan)....". I am nearing the end of my rope here and should be HOME HOME in the next 2-6 months and hopefully for good this time. Right now my real home IS in Haslet, Tx, just a few miles north of Ft Worth and down the street from a new great indoor range; Shoot Smart.
When I am back in the Great State of Texas I now carry (since I just got my license) a XD9sc or a Khar CW9 or a Ruger LCP. I am using some single clip Don Hume holsters right now because, well, that is what Cheaper than Dirt had in stock and even the LCP was pulling my pants down just sitting in a cargo pocket. I do however have CrossBreeds on order and even a Raven for OWB carry and classes. The Raven is for a XD9 5" with extended and threaded barrel and a TLR-1. We won't talk about how hard it is it find that barrel. I will speak to how happy I was to see a holster manufacture make one that fit my gun in that configuration though.
I am a CHL holder, my wife is not. Hopefully in the next few months that will change though. I would like to get more involved in shooting sports such as IDPA and maybe even some 3 Gun stuff when I come home for good.
Anywho, great site with tons of knowledge. God knows I need it.

Re: Introduce yourself
Welcome to the forum, there is a wealth of information to be found, so stick around and don't be afraid to pipe in.
Re: Introduce yourself
69 years old, retired Air Force, originally from the Houston area, now living in Fredericksburg. Married to the same wonderful lady for 47 years (don't know how she's put up with me this long....). We have one son and a DIL, + 2 grandsons.
I've been shooting since I was a sub-teenager, but once I joined the AF, I was often sent to places where it wasn't allowed, so there's long breaks in my shooting experience. However, no that I'm retired I try to shoot once a week. I prefer handguns, but shoot shotguns and rifles now and then. Right now I own a S&W Model 10, a Ruger SR9, a Ruger LCP, a Marlin 336 in 30-30, a Howa 1500 in .308, a Mossburg 500 in 20 ga, a Marlin Model 60 in .22LR, and a Lyman GPR in .54 cal.
My main problem is finding a place closer to where I live to shoot. I have to drive almost 30 miles to the Kerrville range to shoot. Anybody know of a range closer to 'Fredericksburg.?

Joined CHL Forum about 15 April 2011 after taking my CHL with my son. I live in League City, born in Galveston, so very much a Texan! Married with a great wife of 42 years that still lets me live with her.
Started my daily search on the Texas CHL site hoping to receive my plastic before my son....nope, can't happen, son got his in 32 days and I waited 86......GO FIGURE! Anyway, it's in the mail so I will be joining my sons league soon.
The info on this site is great, keep up the good work!

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi!
33 year old, been married for 8 years now, no kids (save the pets).
Software engineer
My wife and I have had our CHLs for about 1.5 years.
I spend a lot of time and money shooting IDPA - I use my carry gun (a PX4) but only occasionally my carry equipment (MTAC) - I use a Comp-Tac straight drop paddle holster for that.
