Got my plastic on Saturday, today I was putting my Glock 27 in an IWB holster and she asked if I had the safety on. My response was it has no external safety. She tells me I need one with a safety. My answer OK!
So STI Escort,Guardian or Colt Defender? I am retired military so 1911 is not new to me. And yes I know how safe the Glock is but don't tell her.

So many Glock legs! Maybe she watched Police officers shooting themselves or that DEA agent with long hair demonstrating for young students the meaning of Glock leg.

Not to beat on Glock, both my EDC has no manual safety, the PX4SC has one but it was disabled (converted to what is called type-G, spring loaded decocker). The only difference is the trigger of pull of DA us 10.5 lbs what is that of Glock when loaded?

Welcome aboard, Chief. I will venture to try to answer your question as asked, and not instead just question your wife's quite reasonable position, being well-married myself. I carry a Colt Defender. Being an old salt too, very old, I found my beloved Colt m1911 (real m1911) just too much for the old man to carry around, and after trying a couple of other smaller 1911-clone alternatives, I went to the Defender.

I added a Crimson Trace laser, making an even better self-defense weapon. Then I just learned about the XS sighting system, something real new to the old sailor, replaced the Defender's quite adequate three-dot sights with the XS Big Dot tritium sights, and see nothing else needed to give me the ideal self-defense weapon. I say again, it was a fine carry weapon before my additions, which are all a matter of personal choice.

Ha, my wife said the same thing after I bought my M&P. I told her no problem I would be happy to go buy a new one with a saftey to make her feel better, but darn if she didnt change her mind!

Well thanks for all the comments. I will follow her wish and go purchase another pistol (darn). I just need to hit some shops and see how the three feel. I am leaning in the STI direction because they are made in Texas and have read a lot on there reliability and customer service.
