M&P 40 holster

#1

Post by tdwhite03 »

Howdy to all on the forum. Glad to have found this place and all the great info here!

I recently bought a M&P 40 that I plan to carry (when TX mails me my lic) and am looking for suggestions on a good CC holster for it.

Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

TD

Welcome to the forum.

There are lots of threads related to this, using the search you should find a multitude of answers.

I've gone with the Comp-Tac products and have loved them for comfort and conceal ability. http://www.comp-tac.com
For IWB I use the Comp-Tac Minatour, for OWB the Minatour Gladiator. I have others for competition, but these for EDC use.

I use the Crossbreed Supertuck for IWB and the Don Hume 721 OT for OWB There are a lot of good choices on the market ask around and see if there is anyone who owns a holster you are interested in who might let you try it. Saves a lot of $$$ and storage space too. I have a box full of failed holster attempts.

I have an M&P 9mm that is same size as your .40 (just different barrels) and it carries amazingly comfortably in a Comp Tac M-TAC. And the cool part it the same holster also fits my slightly wider M&P 45 (don't even have to adjust tension screws).

I also carry a Glock and a Walther PPS in Crossbreed Supertucks and recommend that holster as well. Durham holsters, Old Faithful holsters, and a few others all make knock offs on the same idea. Or if you're really adventurous and a bit handy, you can make your own from a piece of leather, a piece of Kydex sheet, and a few fasteners.

I don't carry OWB much except for occassionally in IDPA competition. But the Raven Concealment systems seems to make a good quality kydex pancake-style holster that conceals very well (I haven't tried one myself, just seen others using them).

I have the MTAC for my M&P 45c. I like the options for MTAC & getting different sized bodies because . . . I plan on getting a M&P full size .40.

I carry my M&P .40c in a Crossbreed Supertuck and love it. Those video's proclaiming how comfortable they are on youtube are true! I recommend the horsehide version because it's more moisture resistant, which comes in handy in hot and humid Texas. Can't say enough good about this holster.

Not affiliated with Crossbreed.
