Hello Everyone - I found a link to this site while browsing the website of the CHL Instructor I've chosen to learn from. I have not yet taken the CHL class but this Saturday (10/16) will be the day. I look forward to the give and take of information from y'all. I live in the Tomball area with my wife who just happens to be 4 months preganant with our first 2 children....thats right....its TWINS on the way. So if anybody knows of a good website for expectant dads that don't have a clue how their lives are about to change please let me know. That is why I decided to get my CHL so as to protect my family since its growing. I've carried a firearm in my vehicle for quite some time as well as having one in the nightstand and behind the door. Thanks for reading my first post and once again I look forward to our share of information.

Ron

Congrats, Ron. I've been reading this book and it's immensely helpful. The author is not preachy; he's very candid, tells it like it is and humorous. It's actually a very fun and informative read. Plus, I get lots of brownie points from the wife for reading it.

Hello texanron. From one Tomballian to another.... Welcome! :txflag:

Congratulations on the wonderful world of fatherhood. It's not an exact science, it's more "learn as you go".
Don't worry too much, because with a little effort, you and your wife should grow into your roles as
good parents along the way. It's sounds like you're already heading down the right path. ;-)

Congrats on the addition to your family! I have two myself... not twins but two is two. lol. There really is nothing that can prepare you for fatherhood... but it definitely changes your world. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your class!!!

Greetings..
I stumbled on to this site just a few days ago.

I took the original test and such back in the 90's and never sent it in. Just recently signed up online, took the course and less than month later I had my plastic.

As this is a new site, I thought it might be helpful to introduce ourselves as we come on board. Sometimes it helps to know a little about the author of the posts we read and respond to.

Let us know as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

May I suggest:

Age - 36
Gender - Female
Profession/school status - Medical Collections (Ins and patients), 2 yr Associate Degree
Marital status - Married with a 2 yr old
Years CHL - Going for my CHL on 10/23
Texas State Representative House District - have no clue, live in DFW in Plano
Carry guns/equipment - I don't current carry anything, looking at Taurus 24/7 Pro C or Kahr but looking at several other guns.

Any additional information is up to you. Whatever you feel is needed to "know" you better.
My CHL Application
10/23/2010 -- CHL class
10/25/2010 - Quals and Fingerprinting Done
11/3/2010 -- Application mailed to DPS
11/9/2010 -- Received at DPS
12/18/2010 -- Plastic in hand

Welcome to the forum, jdlott74, and good luck with your CHL.

You can find your federal and state representatives here:

http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It can literally depend upon which side of the street your house is on. Across the street from us is a different Texas Senate district.

Welcome from the Mod board to all the new members. We are glad you are here. be sure to read our rules since they are a little different than most.
Especially the ones about the "G" rating & profanity.

:tiphat: Thanks & welcome again.

If you've been lurking that long, you probably already know most of us. ;-)

Out of curiosity...What made you decide to finally sign up?
