Why? If the buyer has a CHL, they have already passed a more rigorous background check then any FFL can do.
:iagree:

It's overkill and if someone wanted to do one, I'd pass on the purchase.

What will pass as proof?
A bill of sale can be faked. Videotape the transaction.

.
ID cards can be faked too ...

besides videotaping, require a DNA sample :
To prove who bought it, a DNA sample would be extra evidence. That's a good idea if the buyer will give it but you can videotape without consent. Stores do it all the time.

Whatever you decide, don't spring it on the buyer at the last minute. Discuss it before meeting.

Many object to even a bill of sale, and your buyer may walk away.

I will sell a gun only after the buyer has passed a thorough background investigation, signed a contract drawn up by my attorneys, and placed his/her hand on the Bible and swear not to perform any illegal activities.

But seriously, show me the money and that's good enough for me, but if something
doesn't feel right or the buyer has out of state license plates ect, I'll find another buyer.

Cool, you have a Bible with a built-in fingerprint scanner too?

When the gun store wouldn't sign my bill of sale for the gun I was trading in, I knew they were up to no good. They want me to sign their form but they won't sign mine? Something fishy with that so I backed out of the sale.
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

Probably a wise move since dealers can/will only give you a fraction of what it's worth.
