Custom Holster by RiverRat

#1

Post by TLynnHughes »

I know there have been a few threads about the marvelous designs done by one of our forum members, RiverRat. In particular, there were some pictures posted of pink leather holsters for women. I made the comment at the time that pink wasn't really my favorite color, but I love purple and black. RiverRat took up the challenge. Although by now, I imagine he may be pretty sorry that he did. As I came to understand, purple is not a real friendly leather color and he had to jump through some hoops to get purple leather. We've been working back and forth and he felt ready to do the prototype. I got the pictures of it last night. I still haven't seen the actual holster, but he'll be shipping it to me on Monday. I think it's drop dead gorgeous! I can't wait to see the real thing but I wanted to share the pictures. If any of you guys want to get something special for your ladies that carry, I think this would be a great idea. He'll work with you for any kind of design on the front. This has really been a fun project from start to finish. RiverRat is a great guy to work with!

Enjoy the pics! P.S. From what he said, the purples didn't come across real well in the photos.

I have a belt that I had Riverrat make for my wife about 6 weeks ago in purple and black. He stated after he did it that his wife liked it and he had no idea how to recreate it. Apparently that purple is hard to do. Obviously he can do it. I think we have made a monster in our purple leathers for Riverrat. But my wife's if beautiful. I love his new holster design and see it in yours. I have watched it grow and I can't wait until we get to start on mine. I love the tree design. We have a artist among us I think. thanks for sharing with us.

TLynn, That looks great! Maybe at the next forum day we can have a River Rat holster show. I know my wife loves her pink breast cancer holster and would probably love to show it off. RR, you've done it again and created a masterpiece! :thumbs2:

Update!

I received the holster in the mail today and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with how the holster turned out. The pictures in the original post just don't do it justice. I think the flash is washing out the color a bit. The purples are much richer. The holster is well made and fully lined AND dyed on the inside. Both my full size USP and the Compact USP fit. I love the design and with my 5.11 belt, it snugs right in. I can't wait until it breaks in a bit and really fits like a glove. I'm having a hard time containing my excitement. It's a darned shame I have to conceal the holster. It's just way too nice to cover up. Gentleman, I'm telling you this would be a lovely gift for the lady shooters in your life!

He made a holster, belt and mag. carrier for me to give to a very special girl on her 16th birthday and she loved it! So did her grown sisters and everyone at her party. It is truly a work of art. And yes . . . it is pink; she wouldn't want anything else.

I think someone needs to take a picture of themselves wearing it so we see how it rides, how the grip tuck is? .

Not to steal your thunder TLynn. I thought folks might like a look at another one of RR's products this is the holster he built for my wife. She is a breast cancer survivor thus the color and motif. :coolgleamA:

Keith, Thanks for the kind words. I guess I'm a professional juggler. My wife and I are presently enjoying the "Change". We are both over 50 and both laid off from long term high tech jobs (sent overseas?) over a year ago so we have been doing what we can. We are both musicians, so we have been playing when we can, started a publishing company, she has written three books this year, songwriting, composing music (TV ad background music), substitute teaching, cattle ranching, etc., etc., and a little leather work on the side, too. Doing what we can to keep the feed bag full. The leather work has been keeping me pretty busy, lately. I really appreciate the support I have gotten from the Forum. I have to be careful about reading these posts....I could get a swell head....it's been good for the ego without a full time job to do something productive that you can see the output. :cheers2:
