Date and time of sighting: Saturday, 3/6/10 @ 615 PM.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM2181/Swisher Rd, Hickory Creek, Denton County, TX.

.357 Sig, 125 gr, FMJ, 50 rounds, $23.97. 2 boxes.

.380, WWB, 100 round Value Packs, 95 gr, FMJ, $33.97. 5 boxes.
That's right - 500 rounds of .380. Come and get 'em!

9MM Luger, orange and black box, Ruag Ammotec of Switzerland,
124 gr, FMJ, 50 rounds, $16.97. About 6 boxes.
The ammo counter man said that all other 9MM brands were bought
quickly, but that this brand just sits, allegedly because it "hangs up"
in pistols. Maybe it doesn't move since it's so expensive compared
to WWB, Federal Premium, and Blazer Brass.

.40 Federal Premium, 180 gr, FMJ, $13.97, 50 rounds. 18 boxes.

.44 Remington Magnum, WWB, 240 gr, JSP, 50 rounds, $32.97. 1 box.

.45 ACP, WWB, 230 gr, JHP, marked both $18.97 and $19.97, 50 rounds. 8 Boxes.

No other pistol calibers were in stock.

When I saw all that .380, I almost grabbed 2 boxes,
figuring I could run (well, take the truck anyway) down to
Academy and get me a new Bersa Thunder for a BUG.

But a cooler head prevailed and I left all that .380 for
someone else who won't believe their luck.

All the .45 that seems to be popping up recently would
be just the ticket for other weapons I've been eyeing with
bad intent (props to "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull).

I stopped by the Wal-Mart closest to me(I-30 & Eastchase Pkwy, Arlington/Ft.Worth border) and they had everything as SIA's sighting, EXCEPT the .380, plus they did have 8 boxes of Winchester PDX1 S.D. ammo in .45. Good to see they are finally getting in some .380 SOMEWHERE in wally world.
9MM Luger, orange and black box, Ruag Ammotec of Switzerland,
124 gr, FMJ, 50 rounds, $16.97. About 6 boxes.
They had that stuff too, but 13 boxes of it. I've never seen it there before.

Same pricing at my location as SIA's.

Speaking of .45...

Walmart in Tomball has a whole bunch of Federal Premium 230grain FMJ .45 for about $17.00 for 50
Also, There must be 100 boxes of .40 and tons of 9mm

As a side note, I went to Academy for some .380 and they were out but the guy said they have been getting
regular shipments but it just sells very quickly.

Overall, I think things are looking up for the most part.

LOL... it is the result of credit card companies reducing credit limits. I always felt pretty sure folks couldn't buy it all. Now we just have to hope the folks selling ammo don't hold out long on the high prices. Once they have stock that isn't moving they will come around.

I was at the Walmart in Alvin last night at 10:30 for some late night grocery shopping. Decided to stop by the ammo counter just to see what was there. Have not seen anything like that in 1 1/2 years. They had lots of 45 (win white box and federal) and 380 (Win white box). Lots of 9 and 40 (typical of what they have had on these for several months). Even a few white box 38 special. Did not see any 357 though. Now the price just needs to go back down.

Wal Mart in Houston, the one by FM249 and Spring Cypress has 3 or 4 varieties of 9mm, some 45ACP and a couple of types of 38 Special (Remington and Win White box).

Walmart in Kemah (FM-518 and TX-146) had plenty of 9mm in several varieties. They also have .40 Winchester and .357, no .45 though. Academy in League City has Monarch 9mm and Remington .45 in hundred packs ($48). No .380 anywhere.

Wal-Mart on spring creek and 75 has 9mm and 40. Both in the federal 50 count boxes. 9.89 and 13.49 give or take a quarter. It was less than 10 bucks and 14 bucks. They also had some rather high priced stuff in orange boxes. It was around 16 dollars for 9mm 50 count. Anyone familiar with this stuff and why it would be so expensive? Oh yeah... they also had an abundance of 38 special and a few boxes of 357. I forgot to look at how much they were.
