Gun shops in Houston

#1

Post by Sidro »

Found out late today that another employee and i will be in Houston for a school the week of April 19th. He is also chl and wants to buy a new pistol while we are there. Where are the best places to shop for firearms? If he buys a new one i might as well also.

Neither of us have been to Houston before so any help would be appreciated. We will have a gps to help us get around. We are also partial to thick, very rare steaks if you have any reccomendations.

The ones to see IMO are Carter's Country:

And Jim Pruett's Gun Shop:
http://houstongundealer.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pruett used to have a heavily followed radio morning show and is good guy IMO.

Of course the are various Academy and Gander Mountain's sprinkled around the area as well. I would check some online sites like Texas Gun Trader too and see if you can work out a deal to make while you're down.

Carter's is a good choice. There are two good gun stores in the Conroe area. Conroe is about 25 miles north of Houston so it would depend where in Houston your classes are. If the Conroe stores interest you drop me a PM.

Another suggestion is The George R Brown gun show is April 24th and 25th. This is an excellent show and always has a good selection and the prices are generally better than Gun Shop prices.

Far north (Conroe/Woodlands Area):
Shooters Station off of Highway 105
Gun Emporium off of FM 2978

North (Tomball/South Spring):
Spectre Firearms off of Spring Cypress
Spring Guns and Ammo also off of Spring Cypress

Those are probably my favorites I've been to, especially the last two. Carter's country has a good selection but I don't frequent it often (too far from me to visit regularly).
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Collector's Firearms. Some gripe about high prices, but they're flexible if you ask nicely. Incredible selection!

+1 on Collectors Firearms, they have a great selection, but Ive noticed that some of the younger guys that work there are kinda rude.

For steaks: Ruth Chris Steakhouse - bar none!

I like Perry's, but they have a variety of items on their menu while Ruth Chris specializes in steaks.

They're properly aged and enormous!

They bring them sizzling to your table...

Taste of Texas at Beltway 8 and I-10 on the west side of town is really good for steaks.
