Stolen S&W Model15

Hope this is ok here if not please move or remove.

A close friend of mine had his S&W stolen Saturday 20th around noon in Kaufman county:

S&W model 15-3
Blued finish
4 inch barrel
Pachmayer fingergroove grips
wide combat trigger
sn: 3k36621

Mind if I ask how it was stolen and recovered? Just curious, and I'm glad it's home safely.
