Academy Sports and Outdoors do sell cheap ammo namely inthe Monarch brand. They are made in Russia and can either get them in brass or steel, steel being cheaper. The only thing is the powder used on the ammo is a little dirtier than what we use here in the states.

Hi Flattop22, welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here at your fingertips and a wonderful bunch of guys & gals to get to know.

Actually, Monarch branded ammo comes from 2 sources. You are correct in saying that the steel cased ammo comes from Russia. But the brass cased ammo comes from Prvi Partizan in Serbia, and it's labeled on the box "Made In Serbia".
Prvi Partizan is good ammo. I've been shooting it lately, and it is digested well in my gun.

Don't know about the steel cased ammo. I shy away from it.

I have a couple thousand rounds of it in 9mm. No problems yet. I have fired probably another thousand rounds of it in the past year. Works fine for plinking/practice ammo.

Just went to Bass Pro in Pearland, they have lots of 45 range and SD, 9mm, basically everything but .380. They even had Cowboy 45 Colt for around $40. The only thing I bought was my favorite home defense shotgun load, Xpert 2 3/4" 1550fps #4 12 gage.

I live in the DFW area and have not seen .45 in a Wally World in quite some time. I hear rumors of it surfacing here and there but never in large enough quantities to get there in time. I am beginning to think there is no .45. It is like the big foot sightings. Folks claim they see it, but never seem to have proof.

I just saw a bunch of WWB .45 100 round value packs at Academy.
The other day my Walmart had several boxes of Federal Premium .45...it was gone the next day.

All the ammo except the wolf was purchased at Walmart - Including the CASE of 45 WWB
I convinced the employee it was one box. LOL

I started working on this before you posted this last reply... Making it so easy ...
Ill find the receipts if I need to
I dont think you have room for any more 45 anyway ? Do you ?

Sorry...the pictures only serve as proof when taken while the evasive ammunition still rests on the shelf in the Wally World. A smiley face must also appear in the picture.

My backorder from Cabela's has arrived!

300 rounds of .45 ordered on 4/15/09 is finally in-store for pickup. The other two items in the order were received on 6/9 and 9/3. I appreciate them spreading out the damage to my credit card.

For those a few posts up looking for WWB .45, Academy in Cedar Park (north of Austin) had a lot on the shelves this morning, 50-round boxes about half were made in USA and half were the Czech stuff - same price either way
