I wish it weren't steel-cased. A good find though. I'm going to have to think about this one for a few days. I bought my future FIL a Bersa Thunder .380 for Christmas and need to run a few hundred rounds through it first to check its reliability. Ammo is non-existant these days, so I may have to go with this to get it ready by Christmas.

Thanks for the tip!
Good luck finding a place to shoot the steel cased. The ranges here in Houston I go to will only accept brass.
We don't have that problem here in Austin.

Big cache of Federal .40S&W FMJ (50ct boxes) at WallyWorld in Spring on Rayford/Sawdust, just west of I-45. There were 40 boxes on the shelf!!!

No .45's or .380's, and 2 boxes of Federal 9mm. Sorry for the picture quality, but there was a bad glare on the glass.

Went into Gander Mountain on 290 @ fm 1960 in the Houston area to gander , and the ammo shelves are completely
stocked (except .380). There was even a nice selection of SD ammo. I didn't make note of all the prices , but
WWB 100 round .45 was $41.00 and plenty of it.

Wally World at Kemah has 9mm (Federal & WWB), 40 S&W, 357....and 00 Bucksnot.

No 45, no 380 and no PD ammo.

The one box of WWB 100 count was about $21 and I left it on the shelf
The two boxes of WWB 50 count were about $12 each.

Loads of Federal 50 count at about $12 per.

I'm curious why Gander Mountain, Academy and others can get the WWB 100ct boxes, but Wally World still has mostly bare shelves. They have a bunch of Federal these days, and I don't have a problem with Federal's price or quality...just curious. :headscratch

I get .380 Federal Hydroshocks, (along with other calibers) at my local True Value hardware store ... the .380 only stays on the shelves 3 or 4 days though. about $16.00 per box

I can't find .32 acp hollowpoints though. Specifically New Winchester Silvertips, Hornady 60 grain SJH/XTP, Speer Gold Dot, or Federal Hydra Shoks.

What part of Texas is it ?

I actually only accidently noticed they sold ammo, at my True Value Hardware Store ... and they get it in weekly, ... Texas Hill Country near Marble Falls Texas, north of Austin.

I'd call your local hardware stores, or ones just outside your city and ask .... especially if they sell deer feeders/deer corn, salt, etc

Of course all my local gun stores/pawn shops/gun ranges etc have no .380 because that's where everyone "normally" goes to buy ammo.

That's like during a hurricane, when:
No grocery store has batteries, but all Radio Shacks do, no one thinks to go there?
No grocery stores have masking tape, but all paint stores do, no one thinks to go there?

Yes, gun stores and Academy and Wal-Mart etc will sell out fast, but look at other places which might carry ammo.

Call the TrueValue Hardware stores first ... but be imaginative about who else may sell ammo (perhaps feed stores?)

I have talked to the clerks at the WW in Alvin about this. They have told me that the same three guys show up every morning at 7 AM and buy all that they are allow to have. That has left nothing on the shelf for the rest of us for a very long time. One of the clerks recently told me that they would no longer sell to these guys as they are buying for pawn shops/gun shows and that their manager supports that. We have been seeing WW white box and Fed 45 on the shelf lately as well as some 380 WW white box. Hope those folks buying for resale (at elevated prices) get stuck with a lot of ammo they can't sell.

Date and time of sighting: Friday, 11/20/09, 300 PM.
Location: Wal-Mart, West Main St./FM1171, Lewisville, Denton County.

9mm & .380 - None.

.223 Remington, 55 grain, 20 rounds = $8.97. 50 rounds= $24.47.

.38 Special. Winchester White Box, 100 rounds, 130 grain FMJ. 3 boxes available, $28.97 each.
I see .38 Special very infrequently, but 300 rounds are here for someone in need of them.
By the way Charles Cotton, on the Friendswood PSC website, says that the most popular gun w/ students,
available from a large diverse group, is a 1911 chambered in .38 Special. Men and women both
like the shootability of that gun.

.40 Winchester S & W FMJ, round count= 50?, $15.97.
.40 Winchester S & W, JHP, Bonded Personal Protection, 20 rounds, $21.97.
You don't see JHP's too often at Wally's.

.40 Federal FMJ, 180 grains, 13 boxes, 50 rounds each, $13.97.

.410 Handgun shotshells (Taurus Judge, maybe others), 20 rounds, $12.97.

.44 Magnum, Remington, 240 grains, round count unknown, Jacketed Soft Points, $32.97.

Happy ammo shopping.

Date and time of sighting: Monday, 11/23/09, 115 AM.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM2181/Swisher Road, Hickory Creek, Denton County.
Note: Of the 5 Denton County Wally's in which I shop for ammo, this particular
site tends to always have empty ammo shelves, but tonight was different!

.22's - All you want. Various styles and prices.

.32 WWB, 71 grain, FMJ, 50 rounds, 2 boxes, $18.97.

.357 Sig, WWB, 125 grains, FMJ, 50 rounds? 100 rounds? 6 boxes, $23.97.

.380 - None.

9MM, WWB, 115 grains, FMJ, 100 rounds, 6 boxes, $20.97.

.40 Federal FMJ, 180 grains, 11 boxes of 50 each, $13.97.
Somebody will need some of this for their new $199.99 Taurus PT-140!
(See another thread about this sale gun.)

.45 WWB, 230 grains, JHP's, 2 boxes. Qty and price unknown.

.45 WWB, 230 grains, FMJ, 10 boxes of 100 each, $32.97.

The Wally Worlds on FM 646 (League City/Dickinson) and in Kemah had (that's HAD) six 50-round boxes of WWB 9mm this morning. Each one had two boxes when I left.
