CHL Question

#1

Post by Purpletj »

I carry my springfield religiously. My question is somedays I feel like carrying my wifes Taurus. Are there any legel issues with doing so. I wouldn't think there is. Spouse's buy each other weapons all the time. I would think the officer might say different when stopped,. Lets here some opinions. I have tried the search and didn't find anything.

You can carry anything your license allows you to (if you are SA you can carry anything you want).

You also can carry as many at one time as you can actually conceal.

There is no such thing as gun registration in Texas. It doesn't matter who bought the pistol. You can loan firearms to someone as long as they can legally posses it. If you can legally carry that type of pistol per your CHL, then as long as it hasn't been reported stolen you should be good to go.

I know about carrying SA and NSA. I knew I could carry as many weapons as I like. Just didn't know about carrying a weapon in a different name.

As said before, there is no gun registration in Texas. The weapon is not in anyone's 'name'.

The paperwork you filled out to purchase it is just that, to purchase it and for them to do a quick background check. That paperwork is supposed to be stored, but never seen by anyone unless the ATF does a check, even then, it is not stored anywhere else. The record and information taken over the phone during the background check is supposed to be destroyed daily.
