40s
Male
Training Materials Developer (IT-related)
Married w/2 kids
No CHL (yet - class is 12 Aug 06)
State House District 15
SA 1911A1 GI model

Considering a weapon that is easier to carry, such as the Kel Tec P32. The 1911 is sweet, but it has a 5" barrel, & even on a big guy like me (6'0", 310#) can't be concealed so easily.

Welcome aboard Mithras61. The P32 is easy enough to conceal in a front or back pocket. The 1911 is easy enough w/ a good holster. Many of us carry them and are much smaller than you. Which ever you choose, glad to have you & am sure you will do well in your class. My renewal is the same day about 150 miles away.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to the class (always good to have a refresher).

Where are you taking your renewal? I'm attending class at Carter's Country on Treaschwig Rd. It isn't as conveniently located as some other classrooms, but the classroom and range portions are all in the same place. I was surprised at how many classes seem to offer the practical portion away from the classroom portion. Just seemed to me that you'd want them both in one location if you can do so.

I live in Lufkin. 125m North of H-town. I take mine from Brit Gipson in Applesprings Just out of Lufkin. He is self contained. Ex LEO. Really good teaching skills. Has his own range.
I get to pick up the Brass too. He has done the Wife, Mother, & several that I have trained to shoot. Every time I am out there he puts me to work on the range setting up targets. I enjoy it & get the brass to boot.
