I don't know about the parent company, but my Kahr is made in Mass. That is almost as bad as NY, but not quite...

It gets confusing with some. For example, Springfield Armory is an American owned and operated company, but some of their guns are not 100% American. I think the XD line is from Europe (and the Croatia comment is what made me think of them - isn't that where the XD's are made?). The 1911 line is American, but I am not sure if they make all of their own frames or import some.

Of course, they also have the M1A, the world's best battle rifle (IMHO).

I was watching a thing on History Channel about the rifles our military has been using over
the years, and they are currently testing one now that can shoot in full automatic mode
and it remains cool to the touch! (it's fixing to become the new military issue)

That'd be some serious deer hunting rifle
You could wipe out the entire heard in no time and not even over heat yer barrel

I think Kel Tec is made in Florida.

I'm not sure whether or not they qualify in your judgment as a "good" gun. They are very cost efficient and fairly simple. My son had a P-11 that he used as a carry piece for a while. I have shot it and although it's not my favorite pistol, to my knowledge it always went bang when asked and would always hit the target if the shooter did his part. Some people absolutely love them. It just didn't fit my hand too well, so it wasn't comfortable to shoot, but I could hit with it.

Oh yeah, and I just remembered Charter Arms. Revolvers only, but they are low cost and Charter stands behind them for life. Made in the USA. Never had one but thinking about picking one up. I've heard they are not the quality of a S&W, but they aren't as expensive either.

I guess it would be guns made here, by a company
that is owned by Americans and the labor is American.

Some of my Springfield 1911's are stamped "Made in Ill." and some are stamped "Made in Brazil". I'll go look in a while and see if I can tell why. My initial thought is the "loaded/match" ones are stamped U.S.A..............guess that doesn't hold water, my wife's "loaded" SS Champion and my "loaded" SS Ultra Compact say "Made in Brazil" . Both of our Champion Operator's say "made in Geneseo, Ill., U.S.A."

Don't know. The XD's come from Croatia.

The left side of the slide on my 3rd generation Glock 19 says "Austria." On the right side of the frame it says "Made in Austria - Glock Inc., Smyrna, GA."

Do they even mate the Austrian slides and frames together here?
