interesting idea for an gun range with video targets

turns out the hardest part is getting my lazy friends off their video games to record some videos lol.

I'm going to work on it this weekend after turning in my accounting working papers thursday (hopefully completed accounting working papers lol)

maybe I'll upload a demo here, but I doubt any of yall want to run any .exe's by your truly lol.

Maybe I'll try and do it in flash, that might be a better bet. A web based app where people could upload their own videos, but that would require some learning.

I agree that knowing where your shot hit is great but just having a program of shoot no shoot situations to practice getting your gun out and on target would be helpful.

If you are not worried about where you hit, there is a great training system on the market to practice drawing in time. And most of us have one already.

Make sure your pistol is not loaded. Double check it and then make sure again. Then watch Walker, Texas Ranger (or similar shows) on your television. Draw when you would be justified shooting. Then think about how you would explain it and justify it. We used to do this in the academy (way back) and actually have to write reports on the incident. It really is good training for cops in use of force judgment and report writing.

Now for the good news. If you go to the lasershot web site (http://www.lasershot.com/) and select their consumer products for home theater, they have some neat systems available for anyone to use. No scenarios, but great skills training and fun. Their Consumer products division includes a hunting education system that also looks good to me. And these are in the $1500 to 2500 range.

The Shiloh Shooting range in Houston has someone who comes by occasionally with a Lasershot system and lets people try it out. VERY Cool. I tried it out a few weeks back - since theirs is the LE trainer, it has both scenarios and the "skills training and fun" programs in it. One great thing for that system over what you propose is that it does have good scoring, and replays the scenarios, stopping on the shots to see where they hit. It's definitely a good training supplement to range time.
