Howdy y'all! I live in the Plano area.

Age - 39
Gender- Male
Profession - Engineer for a telecommunications company
Marital status - Married with with an infant son
Years CHL - 0 (Hopefully will get mine this spring!)

I'm a member of the NRA and GOA and recently joined the TSRA. I'm a huge believer in our second amendment rights, and I'm not shy about emailing or calling my elected representatives to share my opinions about pending legislation.

My political views are generally Libertarian, and I'm a fifth-generation Native Texan (ancestors moved to Texas in 1836, and my great-great-great-uncle was at San Jacinto). I'm also a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M fan. ;-)

Thanks Chas! Yes I do have some deep Texas roots.

I've also spent many years living in the lands of "not-Texas", and it just makes me appreciate my home state even more to be back "home" in Texas.

Don't take it for granted that we don't pay state income tax, nor do we pay personal property tax on our vehicles when we register them.

chl- expired. Can't see paying for same lisence over and over again. When state only cares about the money, not how good you shoot or how you handle a firearm.

Welcome stoney. Enjoy the posts. I do have a question.

I saw in another post where you said you took you CHL but didn't shoot? Unless I am mistaken, there has always been a requirement to take a practical shooting test and score 70% on it. If your instructor did not make you shoot, then your CHL instructor was NOT following guidelines IIRC. It is off topic here, but the General Texas CHL Discussion section would be a good place to post for discussion.

Profession - Product Engineer
Marital status - Married with a girl and a boy
Years CHL - 0, application processing
Carry guns/equipment - XD40

Been a hunter for many years with my dad, but after college stopped doing it. Have a 12ga, (2) .22's, .410, and my grand-dad's Winchester 94 .30-30. Still enjoy shooting them, just don't put the time in for meat. Always been a big believer in self-defense, so I finally moved myself to this level.
