Burglars and gangsters do not sell firearms through classified ads or on forums. I don't know where they make their transactions. Maybe where they trade kilos of coke and other contraband.

Almost all the of time it will go to another Gangster or Thug that is their circle of friends. Also they relish there weapon as much as you do yours remember, it is a tool for their trade.

From what I gather hanging around LEO is they circulate stolen or straw ones amongst themselves. Until they get a record any banger can buy from the store new, but most dont make 21 with out a felony. Thats why mine are in a huge heavy safe, I could supply several gangs if they broke in without it.

I'll ask it another way. How does the seller know you're even legally able to purchase or possess a firearm?

I wont either, Its just for my piece of mind. Ive had no problems doing so either.

I'm with carlson1 on this. I would never sign a paper nor allow you to photocopy my licenses in order to buy or sell.

The most I'm willing to do is allow you to glance at my CHL, and that's it. If the authorities come to you later on asking who you sold the gun to, I don't want you to be able to identify me. It's best for both of us if all you can truthfully say is that, "I sold it to some guy I met on the internets!"

I've bought quite a number of firearms FTF, both at gun shows from private sellers, and from individuals on this board and others. I've never had a bad experience and have met a lot of great people.

For some reason I thought the paperwork for a firearm transaction was disposed of after a certain amount of time and that the instant check system didn't record transactions. I didn't know there was a way they could track a firearm back to the orginal owner after a certain amount of time.

The FFL keeps form 4473s for 20 years or until he goes out of business, then he is supposed to turn then over to BATFE, which keeps them forever.

Of course, fires and floods happen in some cases.

NICS query records are not supposed to be retained, but when John Ashcroft became U.S. Attorney General in 2001, he said that the previous administration had been keeping them. Supposedly the current administration is obeying the law.

In some states, all firearms transactions are recorded by a state agency, or sometimes just handguns. Texas does not have those issues.

Hmmmm.....note to self. Only purchase firearms from private party sellers. Thanks for the info.
