UPDATE: TexasCHLforum Day at PSC

#16

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Okay guys/gals, I got approval from the Board at PSC to hold the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC that Onerifle suggested. It will probably be this fall, so we can try to avoid the hottest part of the year. It will be scheduled in place of our regular monthly IDPA match, which is the first Saturday of each month. We'll probably schedule it for September or October, but September would be on Labor Day Weekend. This may be good for some folks, not so good for others. I need to get your opinions on which month.

At this point, we plan to use all six of the pistol bays, plus the PSC classroom and perhaps the office as well. If there are enough people coming, I'll see about getting the barbeque cook-off team we use for the Texas State IDPA Championship to come. We hope to have each pistol bay set up for a different style of shooting (IDPA, plates, pins, Texas Star, IPSC, open shooting). The Classroom will be used for a 10 hour CHL class for new (and renewal) applicants. We may also run an NRA class, either Basic Pistol or Personal Protection in the Home, and have NRA Instructors on the range to help new shooters. Our goal is to have something for the whole family, including the kids.

As I said before, this is a pretty ambitious undertaking for a first-year event, so I need to get a pretty good idea how many folks will be able to attend. I want to thank Onerifle for a great idea; this could really be fun. Who knows, if we all have a good time, we can make it an annual event.

Regards,
Chas.

I've added a poll to help keep up with opinions about the Sept. v. Oct. options. Please vote, if you think you might be able to join us.

Chas.

Charles,

Thanks for setting this up!

My vote for the earlier date is based on the idea that if we get rained out or something, the event might be rescheduled on the later date. Either day works for me.

Andrew

Count me in. Either day works for me. I'd be happy to help with any kind of set up, just let me know what I can do to help. I would be interested in either the CHL renewal or the Personal Protection in the Home...or I can just help as needed. I'm pretty easy.

My vote was Oct. but now Sept. might be better, I am trying to leave both open and plan to come, would really like to meet in person the people I've met here on line and think that a meeting like this once started and if done every year could could turn into something big and beneficial to us all.
Count on me for help too Charles.
