The level of magical thinking from people who are supposed to be the smartest in the world* is just astounding.

I see a catastrophe down the road, when these unarmed officers try to intervene in a criminal attack. Unfortunately, the multi-million-dollar lawsuit settlement will not be a meaningful penalty for such a wealthy institution.

That's what the Princeton administration and the government of New Jersey want you to believe.

Well, the Targets at Princeton sure have nice uniforms to identify them. :banghead:

I find it most interesting that they feel a need for the campus police to wear bulletproof vests, but not to carry arms. Is this not a conflicting policy? They may as well have a policy that requires air bags in the cars but prohibits the use of seat belts.

So they have bullet proof vest to stop penetration while they take 3 to center mass as they whoop'em w/ the baton. :banghead: "rlol" :banghead: :smilelol5:

I love (sarcasm) how the sheep think the Police will protect us. I can't wait for the time when they need to rely on the rest of US to protect them when they need it. Then, they'll realize just how valuable armed citizens can BE. =-]

It's a great policy and I think it should be expanded across New Jersey until they allow concealed carry for the people. Any government that arms the police and doesn't allow citizens to carry is evil.

Many years ago, when there were riots in a suburb of Chicago, Mayor Daley (father of the current mayor) ordered some Chicago cops to go there to help out - but to leave their guns at home, and only take their billy clubs.

The cops refused, on the grounds that disarmed cops aren't cops at all . . . and if they're not cops, Daley couldn't order them.

That's the way I feel . . . if I were unarmed security or unarmed police or an unarmed sentry, I most emphatically would NOT go into harm's way or intervene in any incident where violence was likely; I would stay back - run like the devil if I felt I were in danger - and use my cell or radio to call for real cops.

The policy is completely logical. The professors and students at Princeton aren't allowed to carry. If they don't allow the smart people to carry...
