TexasCHLforum Day at PSC?
Well, it's water-testing time folks. I want to see if there is enough interest in having another TexasCHLforum Day at PSC this year. There is a 5th Saturday in September and if enough folks want to do it again this year, I'll try to get all of the pistol bays for us on that weekend. We can't get rifle ranges or shotgun ranges, so it will be a pistol-only event as it was last year.
We didn't have enough people last year, but if we do this year, we'll have lunch catered by Central BBQ in Pearland. They did our Shooter Appreciation & SO Award luncheon in January and the food was great. Also, depending on the number of participants, we could try again to set up some seminars throughout the day. The CHL or NRA class idea just won't work. Both eat up the entire day and we only have one classroom.
There are several hotels/motels close to the range for those that will need to spend the night.
What say ye folks? If there is enough interest, Marc and I will get on it.
Regards,
Chas.

I am interested and already pencilled it on on my calender. Yes, I still use a paper calender.
I would also entertain the idea of carpooling with 1 or 2 folks from the DFW area that might like to go in my truck. Split the fuel and buy me lunch. Sorry, no smoking in the truck. Intelligent conversation however is encouraged.

Details? what all's involved in a TexasCHLforum Day? (I know, lots of range time) but what kind of shooting, matches, etc? Also, what kind of fees are involved?Charles L. All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Re: TexasCHLforum Day at PSC?
The original plan for last year had to be changed, because the date was uncertain for too long. The plan for this year is to use all 8 pistol bays, including one that is set up with a plate rack. We'll set up one bay with two Texas Stars for one-on-one friendly competition; 2 bays for teaching/coaching anyone who wants some help with their shooting, and the remaining bays set up with IDPA style scenarios. There won't be an actual match, just informal shooting. The instruction/coaching will be for everything from basic shooting skills to more advanced tactics.quidni wrote:Details? what all's involved in a TexasCHLforum Day? We'll also have a series of seminars people can attend if they wish. I'll do a legal seminar on the use of deadly force and the aftermath. I hope Steve Vandermolen will be able to do his awareness discussion. I would also like to have a custom pistolsmith I've used for years give a talk as well. I would also like to offer a tactical seminar for defensive shooting. Heck, I may finally be able to do the reloading seminar I've been wanting to do for months.
There will be no charge; the PSC-IDPA match will fund the event. We also plan to have the event catered, if we have enough people.
Regards,
Chas.

I would love it too. Nail the date down ASAP so I can make sure I have it off. When you say no charge, there has to be some range fee & for the meal. Remember country baptist preacher. Need a little $$$ planning time on this end. Estimates are fine. I want to.
Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Nope, no charge. However, one Baptist to another, you've given me an idea preacher. Last year we held a joint IDPA/IPSC benefit match for a 2 year old little girl that has severe brain damage. Her father used to shoot with us until his little girl was catastrophically brain injured during a relatively minor surgery and now spends most of his non-work time with her.longtooth wrote:When you say no charge, there has to be some range fee & for the meal.
Well, if we do have another TexasCHLforum Day at PSC this year, we could make it a benefit for little Julia. It won’t be a joint IDPA/IPSC match, we’ll just use the same format I described in an earlier post. There still will be no fees involved, but people can donate if they wish.
So how about turning this thing into a benefit gathering folks?
Regards,
Chas.
