Re: glock sights
For a self defense gun XS Big Dot sights are hard to beat.
I've got three pairs on my pistols and won't be switching to anything else.

Re: glock sights
I have TruGlo TFO's (Tritium fiberoptics) on my Glock 19. They are great, the sights look the same no matter what the light, since the fiberoptics catch any available light and the tritium glows in the dark. The only downside is cost.
My Glock 30 came with Trijicon night sights, and they are fine. They glow nicely in the dark, and look like plain three dot sights otherwise. Not as nice as the TFO's, but still good.

Re: glock sights
Several out there: Trijicon, Meprolight, Ameriglo, XS Sights, Truglo. Being Tritium has the same half life no matter what, the difference is the sight style. I would urge you to get contrasting colors, Orange or Yellow back with a green front sight--the reason being the eye is naturally drawn to green. I have used pretty much every brand and had luck with them--my most recent ones are Meprolights on my G21 and XS Big Dot on my Taurus 651. XS sights are pretty cool--they give you alot of options, the Big Dot gives you a Large White Dot (like a Glock) by itself or a Large White Dot with a Tritium Center--I have them on my BUG snubby--great for quick front sight focus.
The major drawback to tritium night sights is they are hard to see in daylight--companies are remedying this by offering Fiber Optic/Tritium combination sights. Truglo offers a sight called the TFO--I just put them on my G17--they really pop in the daylight--only visible by the user. (if you have ever had a shotgun with a fiber optic bead--that is what it looks like). The only drawback is that you cannot get contrasting colors as of yet (all green). I just got back from a Tactical Response Class in AK, and they held up great.
The choice is yours. Have Fun and Stay Safe.

Re: glock sights
I just put some Trijicon's on my G27 a little over a month ago. I haven't shot much with it yet, but plan to hit up the range this coming weekend. They are definately easy to see in low light situations.

Re: glock sights
I've got Trijicon's on all my Glocks, and my HK USPc. I have Novak's on my Raptor. I really like the Novak's. But it's just for looks I think. I like the ramped look, and the way it blends into the slide. I've heard people comment about Novak style sights being a problem though in a situation where you loose function of your weak arm for some reason and have to operate the slide using a belt or shoe sole and hooking the rear sight on to it. I don't know how practical or impractical it is, but I guess it's one of those be prepared for any situation type things. The Trijicon's are great. Nothing special. The set I just had put on my G17 replaced another pair of Trijicon's that had been on the gun since 1991, I bought the gun from an LEO friend in 2001, and they were still relatively bright. When I replaced them, they were mucho dim, and one rear dot was almost out. I haven't had any trouble shooting in the day time with them, but I still have young eyes. I can definitely see how in a few years it would get more difficult.

Re: glock sights
With the exception of Ameriglo.....I have tried everything mentioned above and taken every one of them off! The XS sights were the biggest overall disappointment for me because of not being able to hit squat past 15 yards with them. The rest of them offer a front sight that is a bit fatter than I like. The thinner the better in my opinion.
I prefer keeping the rear sights black.......you are really looking at the front sight, so anything on the rear ones just ends up being a distration to me.
Warren Sevigny sights are the best on the market in my opinion.......I have purchased several sets for my guns. The Sevigny carry sights have a huge opening on the rear sight and offer the best sight picture I have ever seen.
I will even quote Charles Cotton, "that is almost like cheating". He might not like the gun, but he does enjoy hitting things with it
The link lists a few places that sell them...I have not had a bad experience with any of them. Best of luck.

If you go to You Tube and Search "Tactical Response" there is a great video in there of Yeager debunking the myth that XS Sights are only good at close range and nothing past 15 yards.

Re: glock sights
Hmm. I may have to try those next time, JBirds. They look pretty good, and they're a good $40 cheaper than Trijicon's or Meprolights!

Funny, I saw this just today on fark.com.
Re: glock sights
I echo jbirds comments.
I like the warren tactical sights a little better than the Sevigny sights.

Re: glock sights
Those do look like something I'd want to look into if I ever get a dedicated competition gun for IDPA. But they are not night sights, are they?jbirds1210 wrote:Warren Sevigny sights are the best on the market in my opinion.......I have purchased several sets for my guns. Re: glock sights
You can get the Sevigny carry sights plain, front tritium, or front and rear tritium (straight 8 type).Fosforos wrote:Those do look like something I'd want to look into if I ever get a dedicated competition gun for IDPA. I'm using an Ameriglo front tritium sight with a steel Glock rear sight. I really like the stock Glock "U" rear white outline.
