If I had that much money to burn, I'd probably have to take my wife on a European vacation. :) A Glock would probably be in my price range, and I'll have to check out the SIGs. I've been happy with the Taurus PT-92 that I've owned for twenty years, so I'm inclined toward the PT-100, which is the same pistol in .40. I was just kidding about the Hi-point. Thanks for the suggestions, y'all.Paladin wrote:If you've got money to burn, the H&K 40cal is nice.

My .02 cents.
CDNN has the SIG P229 & P226 40 S&W police trade ins for $389, thats a hard deal to beat !
But here is one that is cheaper; http://www.jgsales.com , go to CZ hand guns, 40P.
These are a special limited production. It is basicly a PO1 in 40S&W cal. for $299.95. Aluminum alloy frame/steel slide, decocker, double stack. You might suspect, yes, I WANT one!! Check out czforum.com
The only decent new gun you will find cheaper is a plastic EAA Witness at CDNN for $249. They are a CZ clone.
When the dust settles, I'ld go with a SIG police trade in from CDNN.

jbirds1210,
Tell your wife the "ONE" SIG is lonley, you know, kind of like a dog or a cat, you can't be expected to go thru life with just one SIG!
CDNN also had brand new SIG PROs in 40S&W with 3 mags for $389. And extra 12 rounders are $19.95 ea.
Do you just keep buying that lottery ticket every week, or do save that dollar every week??? I don't know........ 389 weeks is 7-1/2 years, yikes!!
I just have a hole in my pocket, no burn to it, that's why it's usually empty.

If price IS the issue, that's one thing.
For reliability, quality and accuracy, here's another vote for the HK USP .40 full size. The variant 1 allows you to carry SA or DA. ie you can carry it in condition one "cocked and locked" (like the 1911) or after chambering a round decock and you are in double action mode. The decocker/safety is in the same postion as on the 1911, and is very user friendly. Magazine capacity is 13 plus one in the chamber.
Whatever you decide, go with a quality gun that you can depend on as well as put a lot of rounds through it at the range without having to worry about anything.
