Re: What to do in a riot?
Had this discussion with Mrs. Jusme and Jusme Jr last night. While our particular area, has not experienced anything like Charlotte, or some of the other places, I know that it is just a police involved shooting away. We all went over our plan for extricating ourselves from a potentially volatile situation, text messaging and phone calls if we hear anything, alternate routes home, as well as, on board weapons, as a last resort.
I will be getting with my daughter today and make sure she understands the potential for something like this. She has two young children, that she will also have to consider, while driving.
I will be taking everyone (well, just my family) to a vacant parking lot this weekend to go over some tactical driving skills, how to avoid trouble spots, and general information, in the event one or more of us get caught in a scenario, like this. Often these things seem so far away, as to not have the potential to effect us, but, having a plan and being prepared can and will save lives.
Everyone stay safe.

Think about the risks...... they were completely surrounded with no exit strategy — an island in a veritable sea of criminal insanity. If their defenses had crumbled, they were goners. That crowd would have chewed them up and spit them out in seconds flat. I understand the desire to defend what's yours and to drive off the goblins, but unless they had a real castle with a moat and drawbridge, and they did not, they would have been better off to get out of dodge early on. I'm telling you guys.....after what I saw there, I determined that some people are just plain savages, and that I will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to not be a victim of their actions. And that's not a racial statement, that's a humanity statement - because I'm sure you could find this kind of behavior almost anywhere, regardless of race or ethnicity. It's just that here, right now, in this country, it happens to be primarily black Americans who are rioting.
I was not in but I was near the thick of that riot, and I'm telling you that what I experienced scared me for good. There is no material thing that is worth defending against 10,000-15,000 angry people with murder on their minds. Against 5 or 10, sure. But against the equivalent of an infantry division? No thanks. I'll bug out and call the insurance company in the morning.
Never been in such a situation, and hope I never am. My closest comparison would be a pen full of wild hogs. I agree with you, I would bug out as fast as I can and wouldn't care who or what I ran over while leaving.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

But, I did get this article emailed to me this morning: http://legalinsurrection.com/2016/09/an ... r-vehicle/. It seemed pertinent.

Re: What to do in a riot?
Great post TAM,
On a related note, I got to take Mrs. Jusme, and Jusme Jr., albeit more briefly than I had hoped, to a parking lot Saturday to practice what to to do in a scenario like this.
Since using real people as simulated rioters, is probably dangerous, as well as potentially costly, in terms of auto body repairs, I used some large traffic cones, with those "tube floaties" stuck in the top. We had all three vehicles, and used two to simulate stopped traffic. I went first to demonstrate the proper techniques, as to leaving space between vehicles, recognizing the threat, driving out of the situation, forcefully, but with a determined path, slowing and avoiding any people not an immediate threat. Although hesitant at first, my wife and son soon got the idea, and did pretty well. The rioters didn't fare so well after being run over a half a dozen times. I am hoping to do a little more extensive work, on this with my daughter also, as well as keep my skills sharp. I will also need to get more "rioters" next time. Any volunteers?

Re: What to do in a riot?
I heard someone comment that even a small car can push through a mob of people. If you are threatened, but don't want to run people down, you can also slip the car into 1st gear and move forward at a steady pace until you are clear of the mob.
IMO, these people are like a pack of dogs. They are brave in their group and will run down anyone who shows fear and doesn't fight back. I don't think they will stand up to gun fire.
My bigger concern is being caught in the street on foot. I would try keep my back to a wall and move away from the mob as best I can. I don't think these people would stand up to gun fire, but the concern would be letting them get too close to you before you make the decision that they are a threat.

Mostly I agree, but I wouldn't want to count on there not being incoming fire........and incoming fire would dictate haste, pedestrians or not.MechAg94 wrote:I heard someone comment that even a small car can push through a mob of people. In a riot...put head between legs and kiss posterior goodbye....Alternatively, deploy flash bangs, pull out your M60 belt fed, rip your shirt off and flex your muscles like Rambo in First Blood and let off a 50-60 rd continuous burst in the general direction of the riot...
