No Application Number

I just received a box of 50 packets with no application numbers printed on the yellow application. I don't know if this is a fluke, or something new from DPS. The instruction sheet in the packet still says to write your application number on all documents.

I checked the Instructor Updates on the DPS website, and found nothing. Sent Marion an email this morning about how to handle these.

Has anyone else run into this? And if so, did you receive any instructions from DPS?

That is the first I've heard of it. Pretty hard to use the application number on the paperowrk when there ain't one, huh? I suspect a printing error - and the brain surgeons in the mail room don't even know it's supposed to be there.

BTW, how long did it take 'em this time to get the packets to ya after ordering?

Here is the email reply from Marion:
We are aware that the application packs got mailed out without any numbers on them. They weren’t suppose to, but it’s not a big deal. The applications will be assigned numbers once we receive the packet from the student. Just leave the spaces blank wherever it asks for an application number.
And, Greybeard, I got those packages about 2 weeks after I ordered. TR-100's took another week to get here.

I ordered 100 packets and none of them had an app number either. Great...

40 with no numbers arrived at my place. And it's looks like we're back to "assembly required" ...

Box of 40 arrived at my place yesterday too. No numbers, but at least assembled. And check your affidavits. Last Saturday's class each had 3 affidavits in the packet, but they were all the SAME 3.

I contacted the Texas CHL Association and this is the new way. I don't understand why the state didn't contact the instructors. It's
also my understanding that they will assign these numbers once the studens has sent in their packets.

Agreed. Such would save everyone a lot of wasted time. Before Starr Riddle retired, she would at least put this kind of "heads-up" in a newsletter.

I taught a class of 25 last weekend. Nine of the kits had yellow applications with no numbers. Five kits had no affidavits.
