Finger Print Certification Offer - DFW area

Several people have asked about finding someone to certify CHL instructors in fingerprinting so they can do their own printing.

I was talking to a guy today who is head of a small LE agency in the NW Dallas area.

He offered to conduct a training class which will provide a certification letter at the end of the class... the class would be about 1-1.5 hrs.

There is no charge for the class, but I would request a donation of $5 to buy the guy dinner after the class...

Class will be in January 08.

If we have enough interest we will be all set to go.

Email me if interested...

Chuck,

Count me in. However, I really don't think it would be right to expect him to teach a class of any size for free. I say that we at least buy him dinner and either pay him something or, if he won't take anything, donate to the 100 Club. However, this was your idea and whatever you decide.

Thanks,

He won't accept payment...he is a really nice guy... he gave me my certification... but we can take him and his wife to dinner.

He is running for re-election next year... can always make a donation to his campaign fund....

Do you have to be an instructor already to get certified? I am applying to the instructor school for June of 2008.

No you don't, but I would not think the DPS would accept your letter until you are certified.

FWIW

Yes, date to be established... I expect it will be late Jan or early Feb.

I'll post the date here, along with the details.

My calendar has some "must do" dates already for the next few weeks, but I'm still interested in the particulars to attend if practical.

Another very fitting charity to donate to would be Russ Martin's Police and Fire Foundation. He cuts a HUGE check (in the range of $30,000 IIRC) to the family of Police and Fire that fall in the Line of Duty.
