Question for a student renewal

#1

Post by garcia946 »

I had a student I just did renewal on recently. He did renewal online but failed to pay attention to the address portion ( he moved within last 2 weeks before class ). Since he already paid online does he need to contact DPS to pay change of address or can he contact DPS to see if they can do something to help.
My guess is that he needs to pay change of address but not sure.
Any thoughts? :tiphat:

My impression is that the fee was only for the cost of remaking the license. If he can get through to DPS and have them make the corrections before the license is made there should not be a fee.

I'm not a renewal but when I did my app I put down my school address and during the long wait I began my process of moving back home since I was graduating. DPS had me fax in my new address and said it would be free as long as I got it in before my card was manufactured. I called a week after faxing and it was updated in their system.
1/27 Online Application - 2/9 CHL class - 2/9 Emailed documents to DPS
4/24 Finally documents received, background in review
5/12 Background Complete, Manufacturing pending - 5/14 Manufacturing
5/15 Mailed - 5/18 Received
