July 19-23 new instructor's course

#1

Post by A-R »

Got my "official notification" in the mail today from DPS that I'm registered for the July 19-23 course (36-hour full course) :hurry:

Anyone else taking this one? Perhaps a TexasCHLForum members' dinner one night is in order if more of y'all will be in this class? I kinda feel like it's my duty to organize a gathering since Austin area is home base for me anyway.

I'm scheduled for that week too. Guess I'll be staying at the hotel where the classes are being given. Look me up and I will do the same for you.

I too will be attending this class! I too was also going to stay at the same hotel where it is being held but I found nothing but horrible reviews online regarding that hotel. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express it is just a half a mile North on I-35. They offered a discounted rate for a group of 10 or more. I've already booked my stay there but If anyone else is interested we could probably get a group rate.

Austinrealitor -- how long did it take from when you sent in the application until you received the notice?

Did your DPS "status" change online?

Since I live in Austin area, I hand-delivered my application to the DPS office. I think it was then only about a two-week turnaround, but I honestly don't remember anymore. But it didn't take long.

Got my Notification yesterday -- in the July 19th class too. Kinda worried about the St. Michael Plaza Hotel, though. Why in the world would the Department of Public "Safety" put us in a hotel full of crackheads and homeless people? At least we'd all be armed with at least two handguns and 100 minimum rounds of ammo... :eek6

When I made my reservations for the June 14-18 class, the young lady on the phone told me that they are under new management, so hopefully some of the negative reviews of the past will remain there.

Maybe that's how they plan on making the building 'safer' :thumbs2:

That's pretty much what I was afraid of. I am not a security guard. :rules:
