First Night Out

Well my first trip out resulted in my 30 year streak of not being stopped by a LEO coming to an end. I got stopped for 72 in a 65. I gave the tropper my CHL and DL. He asked where my handgun was and I told him it was at home( I didn't bring it along). He gave me a written warning and sent me on my merry way. I really think he was playing the odds of finding something else. I think he was professional and courteous. I don't know if the CHL swayed the outcome or not. I have carried non-stop since.

Maybe we could get the "Failure to carry" passed in 2007. Three strikes of "Failure to carry"with out a legitmate reason (work or prohibited location, etc) and you are beaten with a wet noodle in the town square and all you guns painted pink. :anamatedbanana

Good. It does not matter what works. We will encourage, remind, offer facts, argue or imbarrace. As long as it gets another law abiding gun on the street. Congrats.

Castex1, It will be second nature soon. I carry 95% of the time that I am not at work or asleep. I carry even at home. It has only been around 6 months for me and it seems natural now. Prior to finding this site and listening the great people here I always said I would not carry that often when I got around to getting my CHL. The guys/gals changed my perspective and opened my eyes. Thanks everyone!!

I carry all the time, even though my relatives and close friends all think I'm a freak.

My situation was this, first day to have the permit, going to dinner with friends. I guess I wanted to be confident with the carry especially when the safety of good friends are concerned. The more I carry, the more I feel comfortable and confident. It is more than punching holes in paper and I take the responsibility seriously. This website has provided me with a community of like minded people who have been in my "newbie shoes" who I feel I am learning from. Thanks to all!

I'm in the same boat. Even though they never can tell if I am. Sometimes at a family gathering one of my brothers will ask if we are all "safe". I usually respond with a wink and a pat to my side. Nuff said.

+1 on the Failure to Carry Law

Our phrase is "are you fully dressed?" Usual answer is "Don't I look dressed?"

Basically, both of us (and son if not on campus TTU) are always carying.

LT's signature says it all--Cary 24/7 or guess right.

You will feel more comforatable the longer you carry. This is why I tell the new folks here that are in the waiting room to practice their carry method at home all of the time.

Congrats on the plastic and may you never have to use it,
