The instructor goes through great lengths to make sure the 40-50 folks coming to his private property and range are taken care of in regards to making sure they all get through the required curriculum...
Some people who are elderly and infirm (handicapped) who have a little problem getting around from his classroom to his "range" are encouraged to drive between the to areas, no big deal...You'd think...
This one guy and his buddy came who to the class, and one of them was on crutches, the other ended up walking with him...The instructor told them they were more than welcome to ride along because of the injury the guy had...He said he twisted his ankle...
After talking to the two, it became apparent that there was more to this injury than met the eye...Apparently the guy was too embarrased to reveal to much more than the fact, that the night before the class, he was cleaning his .45 when it discharged (point blank) into his left upper thigh...Clean through wound, no major damage or appreciable blood loss, no femoral artery issues...
Don't have info on the type of round discharged (both the CHL instructor and I figured it might have been FMJ "ball", because of the range they were practicing at the day before the class, so no expansion or fragmentation issues)...
I say he was very lucky...And with only an hour of rest before the CHL class that morning (he was at the hospital being treated) they both passed the class...Talk about dedication!
Another lessoned learned I suppose...
