That was HB 1935. From the web site above:

"This legislation repeals the prohibition on the possession or carrying of knives such as daggers, dirks, stilettos and Bowies, by eliminating them from the prohibited weapons section of the Texas Penal Code. Restrictions remain in place for possession or carrying of knives with a blade over 5 ½ inches long in public places... "

So apparently the 5.5" rule is still in place. Ugh.

It looks like it is only in place in certain locations. Trying to go through the legalese to figure out where that is exactly.

Kinda, knives over 5.5 are still illegal to have in several places, basically 46.03 and 46.035 locations, and you have to be 18+.

I just reviewed Charles' recap on the 2017 Bil Status Report. https://www.texasfirearmscoalition.com/ ... ve-session

It appears to me that every BAD bill that was opposed by TFC died in committee except HB 873.

So we may not have gotten everything that we would have liked this session, but I'd have to say the session results were positive for Texans' right to keep and bear arms.

Clearly the other side got nothing they wanted to restrict our rights.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Yes. HB 1935. 5.5" blades are still restricted from those under 18 yo and for everyone for certain locations. The locations are nearly, not quite, identical to those in 46.03 for those carrying handguns under authority of LTC.
