Make sure the popcorn is not salty. I've heard that salt is not good for birds and squirrels. Might need an amendment!NotRPB wrote:I actually drove to HEB during this bill, and bought 8 bags more popcorn because the bowl was getting low (I also feed it to the doves, so other birds can eat from my birdfeeder)K5GU wrote:Looks like they're going to go all night. Yep, this is a bipartisan attack.canvasbck wrote:Please remember that the Speaker gave them the ability to Chub SB11. He had as much to do with the killing of campus carry as the Democrats who are taking advantage of his stonewalling.CoffeeNut wrote:I'm going to have to write the Governor, Lt. Gov, my Senator and Rep and let them know that what is taking place in the House right now is absolutely disgusting. How is this Democracy? They won't even bring it up for a debate never-mind a vote? Pretty disappointed in this entire process that you can just jam a bill up by throwing amendments onto bills before it and then sealing its fate by loading down the actual bill with a million amendments. The fact that they've had this for some time and decided to throw it onto a midnight oil session just fuels my conspiracy side. The trifecta.
Strauss is more interested in representing the UT chancellor than the people of Texas/his district.

Onto SB9, let's see how long this takes.
Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Respectfully disagree.
IMHO, lying politicians are the reason we are in this predicament.
And with voters denied the ability to recall these politicians, IMHO, all lawful & non-violent methods of protest are fair game.
Perhaps if Strauss/McRaven get wind of potential long arms carrying on college campuses for the next 2 years, maybe things will move a little faster for SB11 tonight...
Hope they're reading this...

He just said he was going to postpone 9!
Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Well, another approach is to have a group of people conceal carry on campus grounds wearing a t-shirt that says "I'm legally carrying a concealed handgun". News coverage of this would help educate the public that carrying on campus is already legal, just not inside buildings. Then hopefully they'll connect the dots that CHL holders don't magically become dangerous by entering a building.Vol Texan wrote:Let's not join the ranks of OCT. It won't do our cause any good.

If concurrence is denied, can it be added in committee?Vol Texan wrote:Zero. It is only there for a concurrence vote.TXBO wrote:Mr. Cotton, what are the possibilities of the House adding campus carry to HB910?

It's one thing to know it's going to happen. It's another thing to watch it unfold. Utterly disgusted in this process. Not sure how you do it from year to year, Charles. At this point, I haven't the stomach for this anymore. If we get OC concurrence vote, grand. But frankly, I'm done for this session. Gonna take all of the next two years to get this taste out of my mouth.

Probably not as long a shot as a Special Session from the Gov...

That won't have 2A rights in the session I don't think. Maybe that junk they called "ethics reform" but not campus carry. I would be really happy if I was wrong though.juno106 wrote:Probably not as long a shot as a Special Session from the Gov...

SB11 just brought up!!!!
Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
That last little exchange about Midnight is the nail in the coffin for SB 11. They will "discuss" the amendments until 12:00:01 and it is gone.
