Hope it gets stripped in committee.joe817 wrote:Amendment 1 passes.

OK San Antonio folks, I'll help, let's get rid of Strauss. I don't live in his district, I'm literally a mile away, thank you God! but I'll do what I can during the next primary. He has got to go. Seniority or no.

How is this any different than someone sitting and playing mine sweeper or solitaire on their computer for 4 hours in order to burn the clock till quitting time instead of working??? I guess the biggest difference is that you, me, and other hard-working Texas are footing the bill for these...well...FOLKS to NOT do their job.

If they pass it with this amendment we can still salvage in conference committee, and even if the senate concurs we have moved the ball forward so that next session we can target just amendment 1.

Surely you can see that there was sarcasm in the cheeseburger comment. You seem to be reacting to it as a literal statement.ScooterSissy wrote:He just spoke, doing his job. Now, the bill has to go back to the Senate, then Senate would have to strip the amendment and then goes to a conference for a fix.

I would have settled, actually been thrilled with ...the decriminalization of campuscarry and let campuses make whatever "rules" they want.
That was a bill 2 years ago. Not sure if it was repeated this session or not.

Exactly. I'm shocked at how FEW people seem to realize this. Only people 21 and older can even possess a handgun or a CHL. That rules out 80% of college students. Some campuses have huge, outlying parking lots in very high-crime areas, so far away you have to take a city bus to get to them. I've seen them, I've parked in them when I took some of those evening graduate seminars. They're scary as hell. You could be attacked and beaten and scream at the top of your lungs, and nobody would even notice. Some of these students (and employees) want to carry concealed weapons for self protection, but can't do so because they can't carry the weapon into a building when they get to campus. That's ALL this bill is about. But they're squealing hysterically about drunken frat boys running around waving 1911's, students shooting professors who give them bad grades, etc. all of which is total fiction. What a waste of a good, badly needed bill.K5GU wrote:Most of these House Reps in opposition to HB11 don't realize that CHL holders already can legally carry concealed handguns onto the campus in their cars.
