Call-To-Action: HB2405 Gutting TPC §30.06
HB2405 is scheduled for a public hearing tomorrow, April 7th. Oppose this terrible bill!!!
Please call every member of the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee and respectfully ask them to oppose Rep. Nevarez's HB2405. It would gut Tex. Penal Code §30.06. TPC §30.06 worked well for property owners and CHLs for almost 18 years and there is no reason to go back to 1995 when it was easy for a CHL to miss a "no guns" sign and inadvertently violate Texas trespass laws.
Note: Rep. Nevarez is Vice-Chairman of this committee, so it won't do much good to call him, other than letting him now we oppose his anti-gun bill.
Chas.

And since the proposed sign in this bill would omit "concealed", which would conflict with written notice amendments in the proposed licensed open carry bills now being considered, and if passed cause confusion and result in more work and costs for businesses, and for the DPS, right?Charles L. Has anyone devised a form letter that can be emailed to the members of the committee?

I called everyone except Poncho. I didn't see much point in calling him.

Faxes sent to all
*Dale's fax never answered. I'll try again later.
Edit: Called Rep Dale's office, their fax is not working. I scanned the letter and emailed it to them district136.dale@house.state.tx.us

I sent a fax to Phillips, Burns, Johnson, Metcalf, White and Wray.
Moody's fax was down and couldn't reach Dale so I used the web email form for them.

Phone calls to all.
Staffers I spoke with at Rep. Metcalf and Rep. John Wray's offices said that they were also opposed.

I think Rep Nevarez is anticipating the passage of open carry and intends for one sign to prohibit both open and concealed carry.K5GU wrote:And since the proposed sign in this bill would omit "concealed", which would conflict with written notice amendments in the proposed licensed open carry bills now being considered, and if passed cause confusion and result in more work and costs for businesses, and for the DPS, right?Charles L. Re: Call-To-Action: HB2405 Gutting TPC §30.06
I don't understand the enthusiasm for monkeying around with 30.06, or, frankly, posting the signs at all.
They apply to almost nobody, and the few they do apply to walk very softly, particularly considering the big sticks on their hips.
Making the calls.
