Surprised how strongly Representative Nevarez pushed back on the witness who claimed (referencing this article) that Campus Carry will take 40 gazillion dollars away from cancer research. While he's obviously still going to vote against, I have some newfound respect for him.

This firearm instructor wants to bring back the class for renewals. His business must be hurting from when the requirement was removed.
Keep calm and carry.

Are you sure that was Navarez? I didn't think he was in the room at the time.

Did anyone catch his name? Let's leave his business some yelp reviews so that potential customers know how deep his support for the 2nd Amendment runs.

Anyone getting the feeling that the committee chairman is leaning in favor of this bill, while trying to be objective?

This chick: I was in an abusive relationship and a gun wouldn't have helped me, so therefore, no one should be able to defend themselves with a gun on campus.

There was a UT student organization spokesperson testifying against the gun bills, and I have to say she brought out a couple of great points. Great points. Genius.

Reading between the lines, I can tell she believes in the power of law. Make it illegal and abusive behavior stops. Yessum, I understand.

Her more overt point was outstanding. She spoke of how drunkenness and substance abuse denies our college youths the proper use of their minds. They can't think. They're too drunk.

Clearly we must adjust the drinking age upward. All we have to do is pass a law. You have to be 26, or 30, or Kenyan, or something to be President, why not bring the drinking age into alignment? All we have to do to save college kids is take away their beer.

Driving, too. Cars are dangerous and if you're sotted, you can't drive. Bump the driving age, take the sipper cups of beer from the kiddies, and let's save some lives.

She also said something about open carry and campus carry proposals, but none of that made much sense.

Not sure from the video, but I thought it was his voice. I might be mistaken though.

The camera angle was much better in the Senate Committee. Made it much easier to see who was speaking and facial expressions, etc.

Very true, can't see any of the faces of those testifying.

 Obviously, I don't follow this committee very closely. Thanks. :tiphat:

It was Nevarez if you're talking about the testimony mentioning MD Anderson's cost of $20 m for gun safes. Please correct me but doesn't the existing laws prohibit CHL carry in a hospital? So, what's logical about a hospital buying gun safes?

Only if they post 30.06, or are an institution of higher education.
