Paddle Holster Experiences/Advice

#1

Post by GrayGuy »

I’m thinking of getting a Forbus Paddle holster for my XD-40. I was hoping you guys have had experience with them and could express you feelings. To me it seems easy to slip on, but was wondering if it is comfortable to wear, is there space for a belt to fit between the paddle and the holster.

Anyway any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.

The Fobus works okay. I've gone to a Don Hume J.I.T for my XD and my 1911 and Hi Power. They're OWB, comfortable and reasonably priced. If anyone has ever noticed, they've kept it to themselves.

Thank goodness, I've never had to draw on any scofflaws but I don't think my cape would be in the way. :smilelol5:

I have a Fobus paddle holster for my PT 111, I don't use it because it is uncomfortable to me. I also have a Don Hume OWB, a lot more comfortable and keeps the gun close in.

I'm not a fan of Fobus products, just don't work well for me. They stick out too far in most configurations for me to conceal properly (my version of "properly" by the way, not necessarily saying they lead to illegal "failure to conceal"). I also think the composites they use seem "cheaper" somehow than better quality holsters of the same type.

I did carry for a number of years in a Don Hum JIT paddle like Old Gringo mentioned. Great little holster, carries tighter against the body, very convenient to get on and off - especially if you are in a situation (like a job) where you find yourself needing to disarm for long stretches in middle of day and prefer not to wear an empty holster). Just remove holster and gun together, store in vehicle, then when you return slip the holster back on - no messing around with belt loops, clips etc. to put the holster back on.
