Depends on the use, I have several that I use with my XD. I have a kydex Comp-Tac paddle slide, a custom made Askins style leather holster and a Maverick tuckable IWB all three see use depending on what I am wearing and what I am planning to do.

The Comp-Tac sees the most use because it is my IDPA holster for this gun. Because it is easy to put on and take off it gets the nod for concealed carry when I'm dressed in winter clothes or, "old guy grunge."

As MoJo said. Depends on the use. I have found a G-Code Kydex paddle works for the range or drills, but I prefer leather for a CCW. Matter of fact, I have one for sale as I sold my XD40. I'll take $30.00 shipped. It's in new condition. Here is a link to a picture from the site I purchased it. This one is black.

To use with a CCW, I like a leather Don Hume H721OT belt holster.

I carry a 3" XD regularly. I use either a Galco Silhoutte OWB at 4 o' clock, or a Milt sparks IWB at the same place. I really like the silhoutte and think it would work great for CC with a 4" frame. They can be had for under $60 as well which is not bad for all leather.

For kydex, Comp-Tac can't be beat. For leather, none better than DelFatti.

I carry a XD9 3" sub-compact. This is the first pistol I have carried concealed.

I use and like the CTAC for IWB. http://www.comp-tac.com It is very adjustable for cant and height and they offer 4 different types of claps for it. A plastic holster for a plastic gun just seems right.

"The Answer" is a similar design but is Kydex and leather. http://www.tuckergunleather.com Both get great reviews.

I spend alot of time in traffic and transfer my XD to a Safepacker by The Wilderness http://www.thewilderness.com that I seatbelt into the passenger seat. It is easier to access that IWB while seated and buckle up.

I have ordered a SmartCarry (same as the Invisible Holster) http://www.smartcarry.com to use for deep concealment and when I don't want to wear a cover garment.

I use a DeSantis Insider. This is on the 'low end' of holsters I suppose, but the reason I like it so much is that it is so simple. The profile is practically nothing so it doesn't add a lot of bulk. You might say it's the next step up from Clip Draw. :)
