Does anyone here "off-body" carry?
I'm not sure if this is the correct sub-forum to post this, but does anyone "off-body" carry in a backpack or other style of pack? I jsut sent all of my CHL paperwork into DPS and am now waiting and weighing all of my carry options.
I have a Crossbreed Supertuck on order for my Commander-sized 1911, but I can forseecertain situations when carrying IWB may not be practical. I've been seriously considering picking up a 5.11 Push Pack and carry my pistol there when I don't carry "on-body". Does anyone here have any experience with these packs and/or carrying concealed in these (or similar packs)?
Thanks.

Re: Does anyone here "off-body" carry?
WELCOME TO THE FORUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every Sunday I do, and when going multiple errand trips when ?I can't carry at only one of the places, I do..
To supplement my IWB Glock and my Pocket Seecamp, I "off-body carry" a Taurus PT-92 in a Wilderness safepaker, which I've worn to Walmart and the grocery store sometimes too.
Like when I have to go to a courthouse among other errands, and I can leave the Safepacker in the car, then strap it on for the other places.
At church I put a pen where there's a flashlight shown, I don't use the keyring, and I took off the patch that says the brand ... everyone thinks it's a Bible cover (Except the Deacons and CHLs who know) I take it to church in case a Deacon came unarmed, I can slide it to him. (All Deacons except 1 have CHLs)
At about 4:45 in the video, you'll see it OWB belt carried, that's my Walmart/ grocery carry after/before Courthouse removal
Sunday's I hand carry, like my Bible.
I have used the Seatbelt carry on long trips,
I don't do the "man-purse" look, not that there's anything wrong with that.
I have used fanny packs and other packs before, this is faster and better.
If you OWB carry on your belt, have a good gun belt, like Comp-tac or Crossbreed, kydex reinforced with 2 layers of thick leather, you'll need a good stiff gun belt no matter how you carry anyway so you don't get tired, unbalanced, low back pain..
Yes, I know the new belt/equipment costs a bit, but lasts years years and years, so it's ok.
And sometimes, during the week, my safepacker and that Taurus sit in the hallway, in case I need them on the way to the 12 gauge, after my Glock runs dry.

Thanks for the info. I've considered one of these, but I was concerned how carrying one on a belt would be too obvious... I suppose most people wouldn't know what it is, so wouldn't suspect a pistol in there. I have one of their belts that I wear daily and it's lasted a lot longer than other brands, so I'd think that this pouch/holster would be of the same high quality.
Thanks again.
Re: Does anyone here "off-body" carry?
I had thought about putting first aid patches on it, thought about some tiny eyeglass type screwdrivers in loops, thought about a patch saying tools/ computer repair kit/eagle scouts ... etc ...
I also thought of running a sealed clear tube to it with lemonade and telling people it's a urine bag
Could be an insulin pump if I hung wires off it.
less is better, no one has ever noticed it.
It's a black thingy, no one asks.
I took a razor and cut the patch off.
I mean if you see a cell phone holder looking thingy, you don't ask what's in it.
No one does, if they do ...
It's my PDA (Personal Defense Assistant)
or
It's a medical device, in case I need it
(It quickly lowers blood pressure of attackers)
(It's a ventilator in case I need it for breathing([ventilates/puts holes in attackers so I can keep breathing])
or whatever true statement you decide on.
I had all these good explanations all prepared .... no one asks.
No one has even seemed to notice it ... had it about a year.
If left in the car, I put a plastic garbage bag or newspaper on top, in case of Bible thieves.

I have been thinking of getting one of these. I think it is a high quality holster and would work in several places I go. I doubt if anyone would give it a second look.

I've read about those day planners.
I really like the Safepaker on the belt though, I keep "off body" time to a minimum, it can be hand carried, but it's great on a belt.

Safepacker looks like an interesting option, but talk about sticker shock!

I do when riding my bike. I'll keep it in my tank bag.
