Holster Recommendations for XD 40 Sub-compact

#1

Post by Kahrry »

I work the XD into a rotation more in the winter and am specifically looking for an OWB holster. I know there are a lot of choices but the problem I have it the short gun can get top heavy. Any recommendations or, even better, recommendations for an Austin-area store that has a decent selection to try out?

Well, there are lots of options. I carry the XD9SC. For OWB I right now use the Bianchi Carrylok 82. Fits nice and tight up to the body, holds well, easy the draw and conceals well. Serpa II lock and even use it in IDPA and never miss a beat drawing. MTAC for IWB. there are others though.

I used a Galco when I had an XD40sc.
I didn't have any problem with the gun being top heavy because the holster held the gun snug to the body.

Or was it the body holding snug to the gun/holster? :biggrinjester: :smilelol5:

Now that you mention it, it might have been the love handles doing the snugging. :cryin

I swear by the Comp-Tac Infidel. I have them for all of my carry pistols.

After a bunch of searching I ended up getting the Comp-Tac MTAC for my xD40SC. It feels great! Been wearing all weekend , haven't had any complaints yet. It's also a plus if I decide to get another CC, you just change the kydex.

Update: I got the Don Hume OT belt holster and really like it. The quality and stiffness of the leather is great and I like how it holds high and tight.

I use a Serpa II at times. I realy like the XD holster that comes with the gun. I have love handles that hold the gun smuggly.

I mounted the XD Gear holster in my wife's center console for her car carry. She can't carry into the many hospitals and nursing homes she enters.
