Hi everyone, hope you all are having a great day. Really looking forward to a simple answer for this question.
Scenario:
You have a CHL license, but a buddy of yours doesn't. You have enough magazines to sustain yourself, but what the heck you can never have enough fire power. Your buddy also has a handgun of the same caliber and the same make, but he does not have a CHL. He suggests to carry his own magazines for the same exact gun you have, since there is no room to carry the extra load on yourself.
Question:
Would your buddy get in trouble if he were questioned by an officer for carrying magazines without a CHL license, away from your or his property (vehicle, home, etc.)?
Remember, he does not have a weapon on his person, only a few magazines.

Re: Magazine Scenario
Magazines are not firearms, so not having a CHL alone would not cause any problems, IMO.
Thanks and Gig 'em!

Re: Magazine Scenario
Tell your buddy to get off of his duff and get his license.
For the record, you could carry a BUG and hand it to him in an emergency and sec 9 would cover you, even if he does not have a CHL. The only caveat to that is if the guy is not a prohibited person, but even that could potentially be covered by PC sec 9, but I would not want to go to court for providing a firearm to a known prohibited person unless it was an active shooter situation.

Re: Magazine Scenario
From my understanding, he can carry all of the mags he wants. He should also carry a miniature clamp of some sort, a hammer, and a nail for emergencies.
. . . or as AJSully said, just tell him to get his CHL already.

As long as he is not prohibited, he is GTG.
Seriously though, the idea you are going to get into a protracted gun fight and need him to re-supply you is something even Hollywood can not imagine.
