Went out to Kerrville in November for one of the final Defensive Handgun Course offerings before TRanch moved to Oregon. It was (and is) worth the time and money - a definite "must-do" for those who are serious about their personal security and working on tactics.
All of the instructors were top-notch and Clint Smith was as advertised: a real-deal, real-world, kind of guy.
It's the best reason I can think of for visiting Oregon in 2005.
I know I'm probably "preaching to the choir" here, because I know a lot of you have already been there on numerous occasions, but that's my 2 cents.

It's my impression that Thunder Ranch in Oregon is intended to run smaller and fewer classes than TR ran in Texas. I defer to no one in my admiration for Clint and what he has achieved, but I think he wants to do more one-on-one work, which would be great, too, if you can afford it. I've got some training money to use up next year, and I'm seriously thinking about some of that time.
Alternatives are Gunsite and the Firearms Academy of Seattle if you're willing to travel that far. I've chatted with Marty Hayes of FAS, and I think he runs great real-world-oriented programs: if you've never tried to clear a double-feed one-handed with your weak hand before, it's an interesting experience. There's also an article about FAS in the February/March issue of Guns and Ammo Handguns.

Man........I was hoping to get the money to go to Thunder Ranch since it was close enough to go to. NOW I find out they done gone.........
