Democrats raising "points of order" = "doing what they can to keep criminals safe".

I just started watching.

465, 508, and 698 passed from what I watched so far.
Are you meaning HB485? I don't think I have read up on 465?
HB 465 Relating to requirements to vote, including presenting proof of identification; providing criminal penalties.

HB 698 Relating to certain procedures for submitting legible and classifiable fingerprints with an application for a license to carry a concealed handgun.

HB 508 Relating to certain offenses relating to carrying concealed handguns on property owned or leased by a governmental entity; providing a civil penalty.
Yeah I meant 485 that was a typo. 972 just passed but with opt out intact.

I edited my post to show HB 485

HB 485 Relating to the amount of the fee paid by certain peace officers and veterans of the United States armed forces for a license to carry a concealed handgun; authorizing a fee.

HB 698 Relating to certain procedures for submitting legible and classifiable fingerprints with an application for a license to carry a concealed handgun.

HB 508 Relating to certain offenses relating to carrying concealed handguns on property owned or leased by a governmental entity; providing a civil penalty.

Yes on the above, I was asking about 465.

Last time I checked, Joe Strauss did not vote himself into the Speaker position. The REPUBILICAN majority did so. The Speaker of the Texas House is one of the most powerful, if not THE most powerful positions in state government. The House Republicans put him there ...... AGAIN. They knew his record. They knew he had held fundraisers for Democrats. They knew he blocked conservative legislation, whether firearm friendly or otherwise good bills. His record was quite clear on how he ran his office. Yet the Republican house members voted him into the Speakership. Now - - tell me why we should only blame Strauss.

This is the first attempt at a bill that is controversial, so I'm not surprised.
True that, but it's third or fourth go around for campus carry. :totap:

If the Republican majority can't finally push through that table scrap this year, they don't deserve my vote. To be crystal clear, I'm saying if I can't legally carry at night class in 2014, I'll write in Santa Claus before I vote for anybody who chooses to affiliate themselves with the party that kills campus carry in back room meetings.
That's certainly your choice. Thankfully, few if any will follow you in throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

They new he had held fundraisers for Democrats.
Please give the details; I'd love to have this for future use. Which Democrats, when and where for the fundraiser?

Did an amendment to decriminalize campus carry pass as part of HB972?

I think 972 is a step in the right direction albeit a little weaker than I had hoped. But hey, two steps forward and one step back. :cheers2:

I had to look it too! Passed in that house of congress and sent to the other house is the way I take it.

After a bill has been read a third time, a vote is taken for final passage. If the bill receives a simple majority vote, it is considered passed, and the chief clerk of the house or the secretary of the senate, as appropriate, certifies the bill’s final passage, noting on it the date of its passage and the vote by which it passed. When the bill is passed in the originating chamber, the bill is engrossed (all corrections and amendments are incorporated into it), and an exact and accurate copy of the engrossed bill is prepared and sent to the opposite chamber for consideration.

It's kind of off topic but relates. I have to give my Rep, Stephanie Klick kudos for her hard work. And, she even managed to keep updating her facebook with what's going on. She is the only politician outside of my local city, that actually took the time to knock on my door and ask for a vote and talk with me and TBM for about 15-20 minutes.
