Attending a Public Committee Meeting - Texas House or Senate
Anyone know when I should register? I plan to drive from Houston, the bill doesn't come up till 10am do I need to leave tonight and sleep over or can I get there just before 9:30am and sign in at that time?
I know I can carry but can I carry in the building when the House and Senate are voting on the floors just not in the room right? If not how do I know when they'll be in session?
I've already filled out some new online forms.

I don't find my answer there on what to expect or how to attend a House Committee meeting.

NEW: Easier witness registration! You can even make an "account" online beforehand, then register electronically on the day of the hearing (from a kiosk or other device connected to capitol system).

I did the online thing. Just don't know if I can show up at 9:30 and register or do I need to be there earlier?

Official Committee Schedule info:* TO REGISTER OPPOSITION: Show up anytime after 8am, the Texas Capitol Extension, room E2.010. We expect the hearing to last past noon, but we don't know for sure when it'll end -- so it's better to get there on the early side. Ask the clerk for a witness card for each bill you want to take a position on.
* TO TESTIFY: Show up around 11am, if you can. We suggest bringing a snack, as the hearing may last for a few hours. It's okay if you're late.
