Re: 50 BMG just in time for christmas
If only I could justify this buy to my wife... I would be nice to have for my next job I'm looking at though. Too bad you didn't post this about six months ago, or I would've had a trade that would've been right up your alley. All I can do now is window shop, because everything that I have, I'm keeping, and the wife would kill me for that right now!
Nice rig though, I hope it finds a good home. Do you have any more pictures btw?

I might have a test project coming up in the next week that could pull in that much, I keep eying her. I never cared for one of my buddies Barret Model 99a1, it just never seemed as visually appealing as this. Maybe I could convince my wife that this is the only way to make sure those hogs don't come back... I'll PM you to ask some more questions and such.SRO1911 wrote:I do have more pictures, pm me with an email or phone number.

As far as spousal approval, I can't help there. MRS. SRO Wasn't a fan - until I told her they're restricted/banned in California. Her inner anti lib kicked in and I got TWO lol.
If I don't follow your trail, I might just buy the S1 Upper and through some other gear on it to my preference. I don't care much for the A2 stock, it's the scope that makes it the deal for me. If you bought yours directly from Zhel, how much did they get you after taxes? at $1600, taxes will be a big factor in OTD price. 30" barrel would be my preference, since they don't offer the 27" or 29" in .50BMG
Do you know anybody with a 18.5in barrel on a .50Bmg?! I didn't even know they Zhel offered them that short! So much for long range ballistics, I'd be terrified to shoot one with a tank on it, I bet the report would be gruesome!

Ask yourself, is the juice worth the squeeze. If it is, paint a target on your chest, and hand your wife .22lr revolver, then close your eyes AFTER you've bought, shot, and enjoyed the 50 BMG of course.Charlies.Contingency wrote:If only I could justify this buy to my wife... BTW, the fact that he is including ammo and scope in the deal makes this a steal. Too bad I already have one. The ammo is $6 per bullet. That's how much I paid for mine at Cabela's. The scope rings are $50 to $100. The scope is $200. He is including about $400 of free goodies in the deal. If you bought a new one, you would have to pay $400 more before you can start shooting. Also, because the ammo is so expensive, Ill bet you that the round count is ridiculously low so it's almost new. I know all this because I have a similar 50 BMG, the Serbu.
It is also great for hunting. The trajectory is ridiculously flat so you don't have to account for bullet drop at all if you're shooitng at normal hunting distances in Texas. The round is extremely powerful, so for saftey reasons, you should shoot from an elevated blind so that the bullets impact the earth shortly after hitting the animal. 50 BMG has lethal terminal velocity even at several miles distance, you should never ever fire one in a horizontal direction. You can take out any game in the world with just one well placed shot. Best of all, the muzzle blast from the big brake will terraform the surrounding earth in to a smiley shape

I got turned down today. Despite early Christmas presents and all, she reminded me that a AR-10 is sufficient enough for disabling a vehicle... case lost. She does have a point, I'll have to battle it around tax return time (Her birthday is around there) with a new shiny or such to push the big bills a little bit closer to my side of the spending table. I assume you've listed it everywhere? Texas gun trader and all the other local gun sale websites?SRO1911 wrote:No one?
