Man racked up $5000 in unpaid tolls by using license plate flipper. Judge dismissed charges said should have been given equivalent of a speeding ticket.
Agreed with his attorney.
DA still looking at it.
My credit card number was stolen and my card number was cancelled. I owed the toll road authority 25 cents.
First letter I got from them demanded a 75 dollar penalty.
I refused. I ended settling for $275. Maybe I should have used his lawyer. But I suspect he has blown through his $5000 toll road savings already.
Stay tuned.

Re: TX:Houston license plate flipper, charges dismissed
Seems the "journalist" who wrote this story could have asked "what does the Texas code say the appropriate charges and penalties are for using methods to avoid paying tolls?"
But maybe that's asking too much....

According to public records, Mr. Talbot has been arrested for burglary, and possession of a controlled substance. In each instance, he got deferred adjudication. It appears that he cannot stay out of trouble.

Seems to me he manages to avoid punishment! Mr Talbot needs to pay the consequences of his malfeasance!

It also appears he can't stay locked up.

Sounds like the toll road authority needs to be beaten down a bit.

That is perhaps the mild understatement of the year. They act as though they are accountable to no one, down to the lowest level person that I have ever dealt with. They never make mistakes and are as aggressive in collections as the Federal IRS. And our Texas Legislators keep giving them more and more power over us by expanding the number of road that they can control.jordanmills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 8:11 pmSounds like the toll road authority needs to be beaten down a bit.

In Tyler, we have Loop 49 that is a toll loop. It is privately owned...by a company in Mexico. Yet the state is enforcing collection of tolls AND penalties.jordanmills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 8:11 pmSounds like the toll road authority needs to be beaten down a bit.
My question is: if it is a privately owned road, should the troopers be writing tickets on it?
