Bystanders watched as this elderly Fort Worth woman was attacked for her purse. :mad5 :mad5

The man watching could have intervened! He ran!

I would have stepped in and Maced that woman. If that didn't work, I would have drawn.

I saw that on the news too. Made me mad just to see the poor woman being attacked while grown men stood around. This is why we carry. When a predator singles you out, don't count on anyone lifting a finger to help stop the attack.

Sad situation. We have many cowards walking the streets of America doing what they do best. Absolutely nothing. It's shameful that cowards outnumber real men. These cowards are just as bad as the criminal in our Society. Yes. Just as bad and maybe worse. Heartless, mindless, soulless, cowardly beings walking among us pretending to be human.

:iagree: It looks like she wasn't carrying and paid the price. Thank God she didn't pay the ultimate price but it's a higher price than I'm willing to pay for the convenience of not carrying.

Just nuts that nobody had the guts to try and help her. Sad state of affairs in this great country.

It's a shame so many people have the me, myself and mine attitude. This video illustrates just how poorly that selfish cowardly attitude reflects on society.

yeah that's horrible to see. I know the majority of people who don't intervene do so out of fear in general, but it kinda makes me wonder what the % is who don't do so out of fear of our own legal system??? This last decade or so it's clearly been shown over the mainstream media that we as mere citizens (peasants) should just be the victim and don't fight back or intervene or we'll be the ones in jail.... me personally given that same situation that woman attacking the old lady would have been tackled and subdued at least long enough for the old lady to get away. after that the situation would likely become less clear..... let me prove a point here....take me for example, i'm a white male, late 20's, bald head and goatee. i normally wear jeans, t-shirts, and cowboy boots that happens to carry a gun or two depending on where i'm at. now most likely she would've tucked tail and got in the car and sped off, but what if she continues to attack me?? do you keep fighting with a woman? ( i was raised to never hit a woman so to begin with i'd already be fighting instincts ) what happens if the driver steps out of the car? what if they're armed? what if the driver is another woman? what if one or both attackers are of another race? disparity of numbers and the preconceived notion of gender along with race come into play big time here..... please don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to come off as sexist or racist, but what do you think popular opinion of me and how i reacted to a situation would be conceived today in our "changed" society? even though i shave my head for convenience, and it's a heck of a lot more comfortable for 10-12 months out the year. not to mention it saves a ton of money in haircuts! I was also raised and spend a lot of time outside the city so jeans and boots are the best suited for me. If you haven't guessed by now I've also been told i have quite a southern drawl as well. anyone who knows me would know that it would take a grieve threat to get a grieve response from me, but our legal system is so complex nowadays you almost have to pass the bar exam before you can really understand what could and is likely to happen in the million scenarios we could face everyday, throw in a liberal judge who hates guns (we've been seeing a lot of that now, especially on the federal level), or a crooked prosecutor who only care about their conviction % in court and I would likely be looking at some serious jail time for something that 20-30 years ago would be the expected thing to do when a person is in trouble and needs help......

Stories like THIS one give me greater pause.
I doubt I'd be able to stand idly by while a grandmother is mugged, but, I can see why people may decide to just "be a good witness".

It may be fear.

It also may be a reflection on an overly litigious society.
WalMart has fired how many employees for intervening and stopping criminal activities to date?

And, no offense, our CHL instructor taught us specifically NOT to get involved. He had a great video of what looked like a kidnapping happening in broad daylight, it turned out to be parents taking control of their 17 year old teen...

Darned if you do, darned if you dont... There are great stories of people getting involved and shutting down situations, but you've got to be very careful...

I was raised not to hit a "Lady" the female attacker was not a lady and if wanted to take on a man then she should be treated like a man. I am sure some will blast me for this opinion but that is the cold hard facts of the world today, we are not in the dark ages anymore women can be as much of a threat as a man.

That was awful. I would like to think that at the very least I would have screamed at the attacker as I was running-up to [try to] separate them and maybe she would have jumped in that car and fled without further incident.

As for drawing my weapon; honestly I'm not sure there was (in my case) time for this, and had I been in front of that car well maybe the driver would have tried to run me over. And as big as that female attacker was, I dunno that this old (>65) guy could have taken her one-on-one...

:iagree: I would have been perfectly fine using pepper spray on the attacker, but doubt pulling a weapon would have been justified unless she further escalated the attack.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Now we need someone to pipe up with the "I'm not batman" stance.

Yeah, I'd have tried, or at least I like to think I'd have instinctively charged-with-intent-to-separate-them, but if the stocky bitch had taken me down, well, hopefully the old lady would have had her purse and gotten safely into her car by then.

I sometimes carry w/Gunderwear which means you almost gotta drop your shorts to get at the gun. A "last resort" sorta carry option cuz really quick-draw is not possible.
