Most schools around me were on "soft" lock down earlier and have now moved to an exterior lock down:

Security Alert
3:50 p.m. 2/12/13

Today's earlier exterior lockdown has been lifted as the school day is now complete.

Keller ISD had executed an exterior lockdown, closing all campuses and district facilities to visitors.

This was done as a precaution, resulting from a prisoner escape reported in Grapevine this morning. Our surrounding districts instituted similar procedures and while there was no known imminent threat we took this action to ensure the utmost safety of our students.

This just got worse:

WFAA Article wrote:Grapevine Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling is asking drivers to be on the lookout for a stolen white Ford SUV. While there's no indication that Morales stole the car, it is a "vehicle of interest" and was taken between 10 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The SUV has Texas license plates and the identifier of 19Z-JW8. It was stolen from a Super 8 Motel located at 4470 West SH-114 and has a handgun inside. The location is about seven miles from where Morales escaped police.

If they see a white car, are they gonna open fire?

My brother went to Keller. When I got home he had his hunting rifle propped up to the desk next to him.

For those close to the scene of the escape, go to DefCon 2.

I've been at DefCon 2 since I got in town. I was dumb enough to leave my primary gun in Waco, so I'm stuck with my backup .380. My girlfriend and I are seeing Top Gun in IMAX in Grapevine tonight, so I'm gonna be on hyper alert!!!

Would appreciate your review of the movie since I was intimately involved with TopGun for a few years at the time this movie was made. I just heard about this movie only a few days ago and not sure if I want to pay the $$$ to see it in 3-D or not.

My sister (Grapevine) had police cars and news vans in front of her house a little while ago. Said it was a false alarm apparently.

NOW she says she needs a gun :???:

I was going to ask if you were going to take her one of yours until I noticed your location. Hmm...

The stolen Expedition was found on I-30. Two in custody, but it looks unrelated to the escapee. Hopefully that means he's without a gun.

I live and work in Grapevine. Our office didn't get the robocall from the GV PD notifying citizens of the events but one of the other offices in our building did. Police presence seems to be heavier than normal around here. I recall that the subject was reported to be wearing grey shorts...well, coming out of Spring Creek BBQ during lunch yesterday I got a 2nd look from a passing motorjock (I was wearing grey shorts too).

I thought it was very well done. The 3D effect was just right. They didn't try to make things jump out into the audience for a wow factor, they used just enough. I loved it, but I might be a bit biased because Top Gun is my favorite film anyway.

This incident has made my mom want to learn more about firearms now too. She even wants to go shooting with us next time we go.
