They said on the news last night it was a chl holder reaching for his wallet. No holster maybe while pocket carrying? Will have to see if there is more information today

News this morning says an African American CHL holder spent the night in jail after accidentally discharging his weapon. Said he tried to flee "after" the police arrived. Video showed police checking what looked like a full size Glock. Bullet grazed his hip and then ricocheted off the floor sending shrapnel and concrete into a mother and daughter.

it's one of those
.40 caliber ones according to one news station.
As "constitution minded" as I am, I'm almost convinced that reading this forum or questions about equipment should be a licensing requirement if not a continuing education requirement.
Tip don't do a Wally Walk till you have a holster and a gun belt.

Video here is further proof that there are few talking heads with any knowledge about guns...
"... the man did have a concealed handgun license but forgot to put the safety on"
Thankfully nobody seriously injured.

If convicted, he will lose his CHL.

Wardrobe failure , he had a hard time getting his wallet out and dropped his gun (was one report) but looking at this video he didn't have a holster and the gun went off in his pocket

yes it does
reached into his pocket to get his wallet.
Springfield .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. It was holstered inside his pants
Sounds like a really unfortunate sequence of events occurred; glad no one was injured really badly.

The bullet hit the man in the buttock and shattered on the ground.

And fox news says nothing about a holster. So ask yourself IF the gun was holstered HOW did his finger touched the trigger when he was reaching for his wallet. The bullet grazed his leg and then hit the floor. Sounds like he had it in his pocket and if it was in a holster; what kind allows easy trigger access like that?

This is why NOTHING goes in the pocket with pocket gun,
No Keys
No Wallet
No Coins
No NOTHING that I would want to try to reach around the weapon to get after.

and if, as story above said,
IWB, holstered, putting hand in pocket to get a wallet in a pocket ..?
perhaps 3:00 is a better position than back pocket/5:00-ish
still it's hard to imagine kydex or leather or even a nylon holster allowing a trigger pull through the holster itself and through the pants if properly holstered ...

Any of us could have been in that store at the time, checking out in the next lane, just coming in or leaving, shopping in the nest aisle.
What would you have done had you been there and heard that shot?
